Hi I'm Gerry

Born in Holland, moved to NZ, Married, joined the church in 1972

About Me

My wife and I have 4 children, our three boys are all married, two boys and their family live not far from us here in Auckland New Zealand our youngest son lives in Perth, Australia. I just finished a mission for the church helping people from all over the world with their family history so they could identify their ancesters. Locally my wife and I are called to help people locally with identifying their ancesters.

Why I am a Mormon

As a teenager I knew there must be a God and when I met a catolic girl I converted to the catolic church after I moved from Holland to New Zealand. It was here that I met my present wife. The first time the missionaries knocked on the door I came just from the hospital after the birth of my 2nd son and I was very tired and not interested. The 2nd time I listened and found they made sense. After I prayed about their message I got a very strong feeling that the gospel they taught was true. They only taught but when I took it to the Lord He tod me that what the elders taught was true. And the rest is history. The elders cannot tell you what is true or not but this is the Lord's church He is able to tell you.

How I live my faith

The Lord told Peter "if you love me , feed my sheep", this means being in the service of your fellow men and women, I try every day to trengthen and nourish those I have contact with each day, this can be in a big way but mostly it are the small things that make a difference like a smile, encouraging word, sometimes they need a helping hand with something. And good clean living, no profanity, no addictive substanses.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Gerry
Temples are sacred houses where sacred ordinances are performed, Therefore only those who are worthy and ready to accept these ordiinances can enter the temple. Termples should not be confused with our meeting houses chapels there everybody can enter including non-members Show more Show less
