Hi I'm Terry

I'm a Mormon. I grew up all over since Dad's job moved around alot. I restored a historic trail 22 miles for hiking.

About Me

I am a wife, daughter, sister, mother and grandmother! I have a wonderful husband who is my best friend and eternal companion. We have four children and thirteen grandchildren, and one granddaughter-in-law. Two grandsons are serving missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; one in Russia and one in Salt Lake City. I love the outdoors! In fact the deeper I can be in the wilderness the happier I am. I love to ski, hike, ride bicycles and I am also a certified open water scuba diver. I certified in Alaska where the water was 42 degrees! My husband and I served a mission for the Church in Maryland and West Virginia area until January, 2015.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon first, because once I began reading the Book of Mormon, and found that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit are three, separate, distinct beings, I knew that the Mormon church must be true. I began to pray about this new concept, and ask God if it could be true, and I received that special witness -- a warm, comforting feeling, that I was created in the image of God, so he must have a body just like mine! I was baptized many years ago when we had just two young children, and I was in my twenties. And second, once I read the Book of Mormon, I knew it must be true. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet. He was asked by our Savior and Heavenly Father to translate the ancient records of these people for our benefit. It is full of many plain and precious truths that help me understand my purpose here on earth. To serve others, learn how to be more like Him, and return to live with Him again.

How I live my faith

Since joining the church I have continued to pray, read and study the scriptures, and stay as close to the Savior as I can by being obedient to His commandments. Sometimes I am very good at this other times I fall way short. I have a strong testimony of the purpose of life -- to come to the earth, gain a body and to learn all I can to be able to return to live with my Heavenly Father. I love serving in the church. I appreciate what I learn as I teach a class, or lead the youth in an activity, or attend the temple regularly. These are habits that I cherish and that make me a better person. I am happiest when I am close to the Savior and can feel His spirit with me in my daily activities, and when I am giving service to others.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Mormons believe that we, as spirit children of our Father in heaven, have always existed. We chose to come to the earth and be tested, tried, and challenged as we learned about life and ourselves. It is as if the Earth is our "university." We chose to come here to the earth to gain a physical body -- which is something we have in common with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. We can have the opportunity to return to live with our Father in heaven once we pass from this life if we have been obedient to the principles o the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We can live forever, and be with our families forever as well. Show more Show less
