Hi I'm Nathan Carl Tenney

I have been a life-long member and the Church has been a great strength in my life. It has also been good for my family

About Me

I was privileged to grow up in the Church, in an active LDS family. I am one of 8 children. I attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where I met and married my sweet wife, Linda. We have been married now for over 47 years. We have five children and 21 grandchildren. The Church is important in our family. I have worked as a Certified Public Accountant, a Financial Advisor, a Town Manager, a City Finance Director, and a Community College instructor, among other jobs. I am now retired and enjoying family, friends and working in the Church. My wife and I are enjoying our service as full-time missionaries for the Church in the New York City area. We work primarily with young adults ages 18-30.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I firmly believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormon Church) contains the word of God. This is the restored Church of Jesus Christ, restored to the earth in 1830, led by a Prophet, Joseph Smith. I firmly believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet and we have a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, who leads our Church today. I also believe in the Book of Mormon. It contains God's revealed word to His people who lived anciently on the American continent, just as the Bible is God's revealed word to His people who lived in the Old World. I promise you that if you will read the Book of Mormon, pray about it and investigate the Church, you, too, can come to know of its truthfulness.

How I live my faith

The gospel of Jesus Christ is very important to me. I try diligently to study the scriptures (the Bible and the Book of Mormon) on a regular, daily basis and to pattern my life after the teachings of the Savior and the Prophets. I am active in the Church and have been privileged to serve in many callings over the years, including as a bishop. It is a great privilege to work closely with Church members and others, helping them to pattern their life after the Savior, Jesus Christ.
