Hi I'm Joseph

I'm a runner. I play guitar. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been happily married for 2 years to my awesome wife. We love being around people and being able to help them. She works with patients who are addicted to drugs and alcohol and I work for a company that helps adults with developemental disabilities, it's pretty much the coolest job ever. I've the had the chance to live in Brazil for 2 years as a missionary, then continued to study the Portuguese language at the University of Arizona . I was recently admited to the BYU Law School. I love to play guitar, it's such an awesome instrument. I love to read and write, though my writing is pretty horrible. I love to run. I ran my first long distance race when I was 6 and have run ever since.

Why I am a Mormon

There is a time in everyone's life when they need to find out for themselves what is true. My parents were LDS and I did everything a good Mormon boy should. I went to church every Sunday, said my prayers every night, and read scriptures, but I remember wanting to find out for myself. I had been taught that if I read the Book of Mormon and prayed, that I could know if the Church was true, so I did just that: I read the Book of Mormon, then prayed and asked God if it was true. I felt comfort, but I really didn't feel like I knew. It wasn't till about 2 months later, while I was visiting an LDS temple for the first time, when I really gained my own testimony. While I was there I received an answer to that prayer I had asked 2 months earlier. I felt the Spirit testify to me with power that the Church was true. And so, because of that testimony I am active in the church. As I have continued to live the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, my testimony has continued to grow and the doctines of Christ have brought peace and comfort to my soul. The things that I believe have been said before by others, and these words probably sound like everyone else's, but they are mine, because the Holy Ghost has testified of them to me personally. My testimony is simple. I know that God lives. Jesus is the Christ. Joseph Smith went to a grove of trees and prayed and really did see God the Father and His son Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is true and contains the words of Christ. Thomas S. Monson a prophet of God. I know these things for myself, independent of any other person. I would invite everyone that desires to know what is true, to do what I did. Read and ask of God. He will let you know.

How I live my faith

I love being able to visit the members of the church in their homes, where I can strengthen them and lift them. I have the opportunity to teach a class at the church for people who are visiting, and I love being able to answer questions and see the lives of people change as they accept and live the gospel of Jesus Christ. I also get to organize the missionary work in the ward and coordinate meetings with the missionaries and love being able to visit those who are interested in hearing the message of the restored gosepl.
