Hi I'm Steve

I'm A Mormon, an Educator, Artist ,and Medieval re-en-actor.

About Me

Born near Little Cottonwood canyon, Utah I moved with my family to a ranch in western Montana when I was 9. I have always been interested in medieval history and am an active medieval re-enactor I earned a degree in Elementary education from Brigham Young University, and a degree in school administration from Western Colorado state, at Gunnison. I have taught almost every grade and subject from a one-room k-8 school in Montana to a large state university. Besides my activities in medieval re-enactments I create artwork and write. My wife and I are parents to four sons and one daughter who first joined us as an exchange student.

Why I am a Mormon

As a teenager in Montana many of my friends were not members of the church. They were not evil, most went to a church, but they were not being taught the same values and standards my parents were teaching me. I developed a strong desire to know for myself if the church was true or not. I was offered my first beer when I was 10 by the neighbor boys a mile down the road on the next ranch I had said no, and had continued to say no because of what I was taught, but I felt the strongest desire to know for myself if the church was true. If it was true I could and would continue to say no. If the church wasn't true then I figured I could live more like many of my non-L.D.S. friends. So I resolved to put the promise of Moroni found in Moroni 104-5 of the book of Mormon to the test and find out if my parents were right or not. In response to my prayer to Heavenly Father I received a witness that what my parents had taught me was true and I share that witness. I am a Mormon because the church contains a fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ, it is true and very important.

How I live my faith

I strive every day to be the type of person that my savior Jesus Christ wants me to be.

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes, I am a Christian, I have accepted Jesus the Christ as my savior. I believe one of the reasons some people don't believe we are Christians is in the vocabulary we use. To illustrate: In School during a Christmas season reading assignment the word "trinity" came up as a vocabulary word. The teacher said "Steve comes from a religious family, I bet he knows what that word means." Yet I didn't know the word. We used the word "Godhead" When referring to God the Father, Jesus the Christ and the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less
