Hi I'm Taylor

I'm from Utah, I'm a mountaineer and rock-climber that's terrified of heights and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a second year University student. Right now I'm planning on studying Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Chinese, but it always seems that life is always changing and could easily hold something different in the future. I love being outdoors in the fresh air. When I get time, I'll go for a walk, or a hike, and if I'm with friends or my family we'll go rock climbing and search for the most beautiful scenes. It always seems to me that the most beautiful scenery is never that right off the road. It's always at the top of the mountain, or in some valley that took a lot of work and effort to get to. I'm the oldest of 7 children in my family. I only know what it's like to have my own bedroom for one year. Now that I'm going to University I still have roommates. All that doesn't matter though. I don't need my own space. People are what give life it's flavor and variety.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon household, but that's not the only reason why I've stayed a Mormon. In middle school, I started to really think about life and what it's purpose was. I felt that a lot of what we do in life is chasing after things that don't accomplish anything. Money, power, is all so short lived. It can all end in an instant. So what's the use? I decided to really consider what this religion had to offer in that. I undertook a lot of study of the scriptures and prayer and found that this life is always working for a higher and more grand purpose. It is that knowledge and feeling that gives me hope and keeps me going in this direction.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday. My faith is not a hobby or anything, it is a living aspect of my life. Decisions are always easier with a direction and a goal, and living my faith gives me that. I also get to help in the local group of young single adults by teaching a class. Sometimes it's a little weird to teach people older or more experienced than I am, but we're all looking for inspiration from God, not me, and that helps me do it. I also recently got back from serving as a missionary. I had the opportunity to do a lot to live my faith in Canada. I had the opportunity to help take care of a branch (a small congregation) of Chinese people.
