Hi I'm Roger Lee Martin

I'm a Mormon, but the church activity had to wait , until I was a junior - in high school! Yet God was preparing a way back

About Me

I currently work at wal-mart as a cashier, I'm a grand father and have three daughters and a great wife, oh two grandsons. I've been active in the lds church for years but I didn't start out that way. It took a great home teacher who answered a lot of questions and whom the parents actually let into our home, it took a good looking girl friend who invited me to early morning seminary, we were studying the Book of Mormon It also took some great leaders at church, some activity and prayer - It also took - a prayer answered through a Patriarch and his inspired blessing - Service as a missionary in Korea - 74-76 Marriage to a great Utah gal and family -- I was and still am in Billings Montana, and in the Billings Stake - she my wife was from Springville UT - Even with all of these experience - young adult chairperson over two stakes, Stake missionary several times, etc. I still am only beginning to understand - where the church is going and why it will be so important in the near future. I love teaching Sunday School for the adults and have taught many classes from primary to teens - etc. I love talking in sacrament but that rarely happens - Real Faith, Repentance and service in the church are the keys to solid progression in the church! Why I am a Mormon

There are several reasons why I'm a Mormon, partly because some missionaries were sent to our home and taught us, and we were baptized but became in active because - were had not prepared well enough to stay active and my family did not have a strong enough testimony to stay active. I became active and stayed active because of desire and because the Lords hand in my life - I could see it, feel it and I know God was answering my prayers and was blessing me for my efforts! It takes time and effort to personally know god - in a vary real way - in a vary individual way - and Satan if he can get to you early - you can easily be bumped out of church activity by offenses or foolish things people may do to you - that is why fellowship is so import for us to grow in the gospel when we are new and why a testimony is so important - as it grows over time!

How I live my faith

I'm always a work in progress with my faith and my closeness to god, faith should always be coupled with repentance and service - so we can be useful and so we can grow closer to god as we serve one another. I try to spend time with my family and encourage them to work on prayer, scripture study, service and testimony but I can also be a better example my self - so I say I'm always a work in progress - My family - my brothers and sisters are not active in the church and may never be - some time I wonder if that will never change - we only can be responsible for what we do in the long run of things and not let others in our family or associations hold us back from becoming better lds. Service in the wards is so important - service in your family is so important - Prayer, scripture study, good shows and good actives together are always important - love by example - all of these things - I could work on improving - Reading all the conference talks and discussions about them are important - but working on what they have asked us to do is essential to our current growth and protection as a individual and family -

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Roger Lee Martin
With every thing going on in the world today - being prepared is more important than ever - from a good education and career - to food storage and production, to helping others in the community - all of these things are important - but it takes a real effort and also work with others of our faith to pull these thing off like they need to be done - THE LORD SAID, IF WE ARE PREPARED - WE SHALL NOT FEAR! How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

Roger Lee Martin
Go to the site listed above - you can also go to Yellow pages in the phone book and look up Churches - Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints - call a bishop in your area - and or talk to missionary if they have a mission home - in your area - your simply - leave a request for a book of Mormon - and begin to talk to a missionary when they drop it off at your home. Better yet find a Mormon or latter day saint friend or family and go to church with them - they were suits and nice clothes - while they attend church. The easiest way is to go online and text a member on mormon.org Show more Show less
