Hi I'm Laurel

I grew up in Idaho. I love Idaho. I have been active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 40 years.

About Me

I am a mother of six children. Two daughters, three sons and the youngest a daughter. Four of my children live away from home. I have six grandchildren, two boys, two girls and two step granddaughters. I love to do hand crafts, especially the older ones like sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cross stitching. I plant gardens and can the harvest for food storage. I love all the seasons that Idaho has to offer. Family is important to me and I try to attend every event that my family members are involved in. This is becoming harder as my family grows and move away.

Why I am a Mormon

As I was growing up, I went to primary on Tuesdays. Sundays were now and then. As I learned more about the gospel, I decided that I believed what was being taught. When I was 8, the Word of Wisdom lesson was so important to me that I decided then that I would no longer drink tea or caffeinated pops. As I continued to learn the gospel I became more active in the youth program of the church. At age 14, I knew that living the principles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was how I wanted to live. I then became steadily active in Sunday meetings. I have continued to be active in this church, because I know that it is the true church. I am blessed to be able to go to the temple often. As a youth, I prayed that we would receive a temple close by. I was thinking Heyburn was a great place, but Twin Falls is great too. I love to do the work of salvation in the Temple and I know that it will help to bring my family as well as other families together for eternity. I am grateful to know of Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. To know of all the blessings that I can have if I choose to follow the path that the Savior has given. I know that the guidelines that we follow are for our happiness, health and salvation. I love this gospel, my Savior and my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I regularly attend my Sunday meetings. I have seven positions in my church. I keep track of the scouting advancement. I am the Webelos leader, called March 25 2012. I visit 5 women, they are older, each month. I am the young women sports director for our stake. I help with Family History work in my Ward. With my mother, I coordinate the volunteers to do the Temple Landscaping for our Twin Falls Temple. As a volunteer, I help with a regional program at the family history center. I have also been helping with indexing for the online family history program. I rarely miss visiting my five women each month, and hardly ever all in one month. I believe that it is important to follow through on doing the positions that I have, so I rarely need to have someone substitute for me. I do not partake of harmful things into my body. I take the opportunity given me, to go the Twin Falls Temple often. I am happy that we have a Temple so near by. My Heavenly Father is important and I try to remember him and Jesus Christ in my thoughts and actions, are they okay with what I am doing?
