Hi I'm Howard

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the husband of one beautiful, patient (!) woman, father of ten wonderful children, three boys and seven girls. (and the grandfather of one boy and two girls) I guess my kids keep me young! I am an electrical engineer and love to make and do cool things like robots and gizmos of all shapes and sizes. I love to learn and always try to keep up on current technology, although I am in my fifties, I still feel like a kid. I am a geek, I guess.

Why I am a Mormon

I came from a rather anti-religious background. Although I spent time in a Protestant faith, I was primarily an agnostic with a slightly atheistic bent. I was initially introduced to the LDS Church by a friend I respected. However, I felt nothing. In fact, I spent about a year talking rather derisively about the Church. About a year and a half later, I met someone that was in the Church...and as she was a pretty young female, I talked to her. She was disarming, to say the least. I still thought the LDS Church was nuts, but I was getting "twitterpated," and had a fairly strong crush on this girl. Well, we were speaking one evening about death and how the Church believes in the concept of a "forever family" and that night, her father suddenly had a heart attack and died. Unbelievably, I say Church members "came out of the woodwork" to help this family. They took care of the family's needs, from financial, to service, to help around the home, to helping take care of the kids. I said I still didn't know about the crazy theology these people believed, but I liked how they served each other and did what I felt Christ would have wanted. So I read the Book of Mormon, not expecting much. I read the Book of Mormon. I took the challenge in the back. I asked, "in the name of Christ, if these things are true..." and unbelievably, I received an answer. I received an answer to this crazy prayer! In fact, I repeated it quite a few times! And I got the same answer! Well, (obviously) that meant I needed to make a few changes. Well, 31 years later, I am here, active and fully an LDS member...and I love it. It's a real thing...repentance. People can change. I did. And I have blessings that were UNATTAINABLE living my life the way I was.

How I live my faith

In my 31 years in the Church, I've had a lot of callings. I teach, lead, and even lead music. I am active in my local school system, I give my time to organizations such as Boy Scouts, ( I have two Eagle scouts) FIRST Robotics, other volunteer functions. I currently hold a calling in Church as a Young Men's Secretary.
