Hi I'm Kurt Tucker

I live in South Florida. My wife and I are parents of six children. I am a life insurance agent and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and a father of six children. We now have four grandchildren! My career has been in life insurance because it has allowed me the time to be a husband and father. I love riding my bicycle, fishing and living in South Florida.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church because God answered my plea to know more about why I am here on earth. As a young man of twenty I went to Europe to race bicycles and spent time in Turin, Italy to follow that dream. While living that dream I found out that there was very little of true happiness in my heart. I was doing what I wanted but did not feel right inside of me! What was going on and why did I feel this way? I noticed people around me, some were happy and others struggled and I wanted to know what the purpose was. The need to know why I was here on earth and what was really going on permeated every thought and dominated my existence. One night as I sat in my apartment, far from family and friends, I decided to pray and I prayed as if my life depended on it. I prayed to know what was true and right and committed to follow Jesus Christ, if only I could know what to do. The Missionaries had left a Book of Mormon with me so I began reading it and read about Nephi and Lehi. As I was reading the second page of The Book of Mormon and read about Lehi's experience I felt the Holy Ghost come upon me. The deep anxiety that I had been feeling disappeared in an instant and was replaced by the warmest most joyful experience of my life! I did not know what had happened, only that there was really something to The Book of Mormon. I had that experience two times that evening as I read more of The Book of Mormon. From that night on I read more and more and my life began to change. The Missionaries soon visited again and they explained to me that if I would read the Book of Mormon and sincerely pray, then the Holy Ghost would manifest the truth of it to me in a personal way. I had not told them of my experience but their testimony confirmed and explained the witness that I had received. God answered my prayer and showed me what to do so I figured I better keep my part of the deal! As a result I was baptized and have continued in the Church from that time on.

How I live my faith

The focus of my faith is the way we live as a family. My wife and I believe in eternal families and began our marriage in the Temple with sacred promises to God and each other. Our children have been born under the blessing of those promises and we always try to live the teachings of Jesus Christ in our home. We study the scriptures together, pray together and attend Church together. As our children have grown they have also been married in the temple and we are now blessed with grandchildren. My wife and I have served in a number of capacities in the Church always with a desire to help those we have been asked to serve and as a result we have been blessed with an increased knowledge of the Savior. My experience is that when I give my best I receive the most. That is the way of Jesus Christ, He helps those that follow Him and guides us on our own special path to help us become our best selves. Currently I serve as the leader of the missionary efforts in our congregation. This is a choice opportunity to bless the lives of literally everyone around me. As we share our testimony of the Savior in the way we live our lives, the things we say and do then all people are lifted. I feel that the most important thing we can do is share our testimony of the Savior at home, at work and at Church because that will bring the greatest joy and improvement in our lives.

What is being a Mormon like?

Kurt Tucker
Life is full of challenges for every single person and as a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints I have found tremendous strength and confidence to live a full and fulfilling life. As a Mormon I feel God's love and a desire to share that happiness with others. I feel confident in my daily life that through prayer and guidance from the scriptures and the Holy Ghost that I will find my way through it all. I have observed many Church members (including myself and our family) face serious difficulties that ultimately are resolved and as we work through them we obtain the characteristics that Heavenly Father knows we need.
