Hi I'm Al

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Mexico, am a business consultant and adjunct faculty in international business. I enjoy playing sports, especially soccer. I coached girls' soccer in AYSO and women's soccer in Oxnard, CA. I have a wonderful wife and three beautiful children.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was younger my family was involved with three religions. My mother was not happy that Mormon missionaries were visiting my grandmother, but one day after she felt uneasy with some of the beliefs about children that died without being baptized she decided to ask them about it. They told her that little children were alive in Christ and incapable of sinning. They also taught that the righteous spirits of those who die await the resurrection in peace and happiness in a place called paradise. She became interested in the rest of their teachings so our family took the discussions. After hearing, reading and praying about it, the Holy Ghost individually confirmed that the teachings were true. We soon were baptized even thought we did not understand all things. It has been the greatest blessing to me and my family. The Holy Ghost will testify of its truth through a feeling of peace and indescribable love.

How I live my faith

I follow the teachings of Jesus Christ which teach me how to improve daily. Although I am not perfect, I act as best I can. I help those I visit and come in contact with. My faith is put to work through accepting callings and responsibilities and, above all, god's will. I pray for and about my family, friends and others. I am grateful for, and believe in, the Atonement and the miracle of forgiveness. I have applied it in my life. I testify without a shadow of doubt that it is real.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

The scriptures teach that before we came to this earth, we lived in a family with a Heavenly Father. He provided a way for us to come to earth through families to help us experience life. The family setting is the best setting to help us experience the love Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ have for us. The very first story in the Bible is about a family, a royal family from which all mankind descended. The very first story in the Book of Mormon is about a family. This family faced many challenges but was greatly blessed of the Lord. The Gospel of Jesus Christ teaches that the family is central to God's plan for his Children and that we can be united eternally as families. The idea of being united with your family in the eternities is very appealing and it requires that the family work together to obtain that blessing. Show more Show less
