Hi I'm Phillip

I grew up in Southern California and joined the Church in 1976 at age 17. I'm a Mormon and a disciple of Jesus Christ.

About Me

I joined the Church as a young man in 1976 and served a mission for the Church from 1980-1982 in Costa Rica and Panama. After the mission, I received a bachelor's degree in Information Management and an MBA. Over the years I have worked as a software application analyst and consultant for IBM, Price Waterhouse, ExxonMobil and Chevron. My wife and I were married for mortality and eternity in 1983 and she is the most wonderful woman. We have four children and two grandchildren. The outdoors is so important to our family. We love to hike, bike, camp, fish, play sports and boogie board at the beach. The Lord has been a powerful influence in my life. I'm not sure how well I would fare in this life without the gospel. I am so grateful for God's love and for the atonement of Jesus Christ. The Gift of the Holy Ghost is a daily treasure that I try to love worthy of. My great hope is to live forever with my family in the presence of my heavenly family.

Why I am a Mormon

During 1975 when i was a senior in high school, i was invited to attend church. I wanted to learn more and the missionaries came and taught me. They gave me the Book of Mormon to read in February 1976. The first time i read it, the holy spirit came over me and let me know what i was reading was true. After visiting with the missionaries for several months, i decided to be baptised. A former tennis coach heard about this and tried to discourage me from being baptised. He said some terrible things about the Church and this worried me. I wondered if i was doing the right thing. I went home and knelt in prayer. I told Heavenly Father i had to know if i was doing the right thing. It was light a light switch -- the worry and fear were immediately replaced with peace and joy. I knew i was doing the right thing. Since then, my testimony has increased. From 1980 to 1982, I served as a missionary in Costa Rica and Panama. During that time, my testimony deepened of the Savior. I know that Heavenly Father lives and that he loves me. I know that Jesus Christ paid the price so i could be forgiven and return to my Heavenly Father. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet and that there is a living prophet on the earth today -- Thomas S Monson. And i know that this is the true Church of Jesus Christ. I am grateful to have a testimony.

How I live my faith

On Sundays, our family attends Church together. We enjoy our meetings and strive to learn and serve. I strive every day to live the commandments. I am grateful for repentence and forgiveness. I read something gospel related every day: the scriptures, teachings of living prophets and other stories of faith. I pray for opportunities to share this joyous gospel with others.
