Brittany: student, Mormon.

Hi I'm Brittany

About Me

I have a passion for music and love to dance. I am a college student who is enjoying meeting people from around the world and broadening my perspective and understanding. I also have an interest in photography. I love capturing the beauty of the earth and I am amazed at the many wonders this world has to offer. I love my family and know that I can be with them forever. I love this gospel and love being a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but that is not why I am a Mormon. I grew up feeling like the Church was true, but there came a time that I wanted know without a shadow of a doubt if the things I had been taught all my life were indeed true or not. I went on a search. I absorbed every bit of knowledge I could about the gospel. After learning and understanding more and more, my faith grew stronger and stronger. I read, pondered, and prayed to know if these things were true and if the Book of Mormon was another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that if we ask with a pure heart and real intent, we can know the truth of all things. I know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Christ along with the Bible. I know that God is our loving Heavenly Father who is aware of me and loves me. I know that I am a daughter of God. I know where I came from and where I am going. I know that there is a prophet on the earth today to lead and guide us just like in times past. I know that Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for my sins so that I could be forgiven and so He could know how to help me individually. I know that Christ was resurrected and lives again and reigns in glory. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are merciful and love each and every one of us. I know that we come closer to Christ through faith, repentance, baptism, receiving the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end. I know that I am who I am today because of my beliefs and my foundation.

Personal Stories

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

The rise in technology amazes me how we can hear people's voices through the phone or the internet almost in an instant. What amazes me even more though, is the fact that we can communicate with our Father in heaven and how that line of communication has always been available to us and will be forever more. Our all-powerful, all-knowing, almighty God hears our prayers. He knows the desires of our hearts and truly cares what we have to say to Him. I know that my prayers have been answered. They are not always answered in the way I think they will be or within the certain time frame I might have imagined, but God has his own time and way of bringing things about that will bring me the greatest happiness.

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?

Many people who have not attended church regularly or are wanting to join the church later on in life, compare themselves to people who have been active and who have been members all their lives and think, "It's too late for me to join" or "I have missed too much church to return." For all those who feel this way, I say to turn to the parable of the laborers Christ gives in Matthew 20. Each laborer was agreed a penny a day. When it was time for the laborers to be paid, even the laborers who had barely started working received the same payment as the laborers who worked from the start. This parable teaches that we are all equal in the Lord's eyes. It does not matter when you come to Christ just as long as you come to him. Do not give up hope. It is never too late to decide to come back to Him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day of my life. My belief system is more than just a religion, it is a life style. I speak, act, and think purely. I do not view, watch, or attend things which are degrading. I know that I have been blessed with a body that is unique and sacred so I dress modestly to show respect for what I have been given. I do not eat or drink things that will harm my body as well. I strive to always follow the Savior and to be an "example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity" (1 Timothy 4:12). I want everyone I come in contact with to know that I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that by small and simple things, great things come to past (Alma 37:6) so I read my scriptures and say my prayers each and every day. I do not simply believe my faith and religion, I live it, I love it.
