Hi I'm Phil

I serve in the US Air Force. I'm an artist, a history buff, and a Sci Fi nerd. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to my marvelous college sweetheart, and we are proud parents to four wonderful kids. I have served in the US Air Force since 1999. I have a number of different and varied hobbies, ranging from Civil War history, geology, paleontology, astronomy, science fiction movies, table-top games, the outdoors, and travel. I am also an artist, focusing mainly on seascapes.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the Church when I was very young, so I was raised in the Church and always believed that it was true. As I began my mission in 1993 I heard one of the General Authorities of the Church speak and he said that in order to teach the Gospel, we needed to have a firm testimony of its truthfulness. It was then that I realized I didn't really know for myself. So I prayed that night, as I had never prayed before, to know the truth for myself. I received a witness, a warm and calm feeling of peace and love, and an undeniable understanding that eveything I had been taught as a child and young man was true. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My co-workers in the military often notice that things I do are a little bit different. I refrain from certain common activities --alcohol and tabacco use-- that are at odds with the standards of the Church. Sometimes I am looked at as strange, but most times I am admired more for my conviction.
