Hi I'm Bob Skelton

I grew up in Needles, CA on the Colorado River and was a jet pilot in the Navy. I own a CM Real Estate & Property Mgt. Co. in CA.

About Me

I have a wonderful wife of 42 years and am the father of 7 special children who have given us ten precious grandchidren, soon to be eleven. All 5 of our sons became Eagle Scouts, are married to wonderful women, and have good careers to support their own families. Our two daughters have wonderful husbands and full time careers teaching their children how to grow up to become healthy, happy adults, and to contribute to our great nation. I enjoy being with my family more than anything else in life. I feel that helping my family return to God is the most important thing I will ever do. I served in the US Navy as a jet pilot, and have been in business for myself ever since. I owned a cosmetic and hair care company in my younger business years. I currently own a Commercial Real Estate and Property Management Co. in California. I love people, so I like to own businesses that deal with people on a personal basis. I love to be active in many sports. At 72 years old, I play competitive basketball & volleyball every week, I lift weights 3 days a week, and enjoy water and snow skiing. I believe exercising often, is one key ingredient to healthful living along with good nutrition and developing my spirituality as the most important part of my life along with my great family of 9. On July 24, 2017 we will report to the Provo Missionary Training Center to begin our Senior Mission with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to the Mexico, Mexico City North Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I gained my personal testimony at age 30, when my wife and I were searching all the different religions to find one that we felt would help us protect our children from a worsening, wicked world. We did not want our children growing up in a broken home, on drugs, or addicted to some other substance or thing. The Mormon missionaries came to our door one day and talked to my wife, who was interested in learning more about about God. She was an inactive Catholic, but had never known much about the nature of God. After taking the lessons about the LDS faith, she had a spirital experience with the Holy Spirit, that caused her to believe the principles she had been taught. She wanted to be baptized, so I began taking the lessons with her. This was the best decision we have made as a married couple; that is to be baptised in the LDS church. It has protected our family from much of the heartache and misery that people experience in the world today. The LDS church teaches such good values that help parents rear their families in righteousness. The youth programs of the church create an atmosphere of love, respect and learning for our children which strengthens them against the temptations that beset young people nowdays. It helped them set good goals for their futures and to plan on marrying righteous spouses. The church endorses the Boy Scouts of America as the Young Men's program, which helped our sons develop good skills for dealing with life. Our daughters were involved in the Young Women's Personal Progress program. I bear testimony that knowing that Jesus is the Christ and the Son of a loving Heavernly Father has changed our lives for the better over the last 36 years. His atonement has enabled us to repent of the things we have done wrong and change to make our lives better examples for our 7 children. Because our family has been sealed together in the Temple of God we will have the chance to stay together for all eternity.

How I live my faith

My wife and I read the scriptures together and separately every day to learn more about how to live and to be happy. I believe one of the secretes to a good life is to have something to do, someone to love, and something to hope for. Being a Mormon, provides for all three and much, much more. Each day we study and ponder the truths of the Bible and Book of Mormon. This has brought the Spirit of God into our home since our children were young. That Spirit has kept our family together in love and respect for each other and helped us know how to handle the inevitable diversity of opinions that all couples face. We respect our chidrens' right to choose for themselves what they will believe and what they will do with their lives. I have had many callings in the church to serve the people of the area in which we live. I have worked with the youngest chidren, with the teenagers, and with adults. All this service has been very rewarding for my wife, for me, and our family. I have gained a testimony of serving people, of being involved in finding truth, and most of all of God the Father, and his Son, Jesus Christ. My current calling is on the Stake High Council, which helps our Stake Presidency operate the church in several cities in our area of California. I go to different chapels in our area to speak about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I enjoy being involved in teaching about truths of eternal life and helping people learn and gain testimony of Jesus Christ. This feels very good because I know it will help people to be happy and enjoy life more in thier families.
