Hi I'm Lynne

I'm a wife, mom, and grandma. In my "spare time", I'm a school counselor at an alternative high school. And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love being a mom so when 4 of my 5 children grew up and left the nest, I went back to school to become a school counselor, which in many ways uses the same skill set. My youngest child, a daughter, was patient with me as I've tried to "do the counselor stuff" with her and her friends! Now I've been retired for almost 4 years. I have 5 children who have given me 10 beautiful grandchildren. Before retirment, I spent 8 years as the building counselor at an alternative high school. It was very challenging work that gave me experiences that sometimes were very difficult but sometimes very rewarding! Once I retired, my husband and I served a mission in Salt Lake City in the Family and Church History Headquarters mission. I came back with a deep love for family history and do it whenever I can find time. I love to do crossword and suduko puzzles, and watch college football. I love getting out in the mountains around us and enjoying the beautiful world we have been given. Traveling is something I can't get enough of and there is a whole list of places I want to see! We are now serving our second mission in North Carolina. We love serving the Lord!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy. I know that I have a Father in Heaven who knows me and loves me and answers my prayers. He doesn't always give me the answers I want, but always gives me the answers I need. I know that whatever life sends my way, I can handle it because my Heavenly Father is there right with me, helping me along. I love the LDS (Mormon) Church because it teaches these things about our Father in Heaven. It teaches me about Jesus Christ and about how he died for my sins so that I can learn and grow and get better at keeping the commandments. I love the principle of eternal families, that the Lord has provided a way for families to be together as families in the live after death. Being focused on that as a goal helps me keep my priorities straight. It helps me try to become the best person I can become every day. I see, all the time, what happens when people do not include God in their lives. I see the confusion and struggle to figure out what is right and what is wrong. I see the consequences of not living according to example that the Savior showed us. I'm thankful everyday that I have this precious gift, the knowledge of who I am, why I'm here and where I want to go. That is why I'm a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I try to follow Christs example. I try to make decisions based on his gospel. His approval of me is much more important to me than any one in the world. I'm heavily involved in family history because of my belief in life after death. I believe that we can live as families in the life after this mortal one. I have many experiences where I have felt those on the "other side" reach out to me and help me find a date or place and name that I needed. In our retirement, my husband and I decided that we wanted to make the most of our time. We are currently preparing for our second mission for our church. We will be spending 18 months in Charlotte, North Carolina working in the mission office. We are excited about this new adventure!
