Hi I'm Loid

I'm a Mormon who believes in God our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ our Redeemer, and the Holy Ghost our Guide and Comforter.

About Me

I am a maker! I make wooden objects: bowls, boxes, furniture, and hopefully soon wooden boats. I enjoy nice temperate sunny days working in my workshop or out finding wood for projects. My greatest joy is making things whether it be an item made of wood or relationships with family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I love to serve and feel the Savior's love when I do. I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by to loving parents. I am a Mormon because I have chosen to be. I have felt the witness of the Holy Ghost with warmth in my heart and joy in my soul. This witness has told me that we have a loving Heavenly Father who protects us and wants us to return to him and receive eternal life. I have also felt the Love of Jesus Christ our Savior, Redeemer, and elder brother. Through his Atonement he has taken all of our weaknesses as our Redeemer if we are willing to keep the commandments of God and always remember Him. When I was 13 years old, the LDS Church released the movie of the First Vision. We watched it one evening at our Mutual Activity night for the first time. After seeing the experience of Joseph Smith in the Sacred Grove as he was returning home through a beautiful medow, I felt the warmth of the Spirit telling me that Joseph Smith is a Prophet of God. In the summer of 1981 after I graduated from high school, I worked on a set net fishing sight at Ekuk Alaska. The purpose of my work was to earn money to go on a LDS mission. While working through many trials trying fish as an inexperienced commercial fisherman, I read most of the Book of Mormon and received a witness that it was true. This happened after we had our net break, and our truck breakdown. I was walking back to the village to get help and praying at the same time. I felt the Spirit tell me the Book of Mormon is true. This felt so good to me as I had also previous to my graduation read the New Testament while taking early morning seminary. I had felt the Spirit witness to me that Jesus is the Christ and we have a loving Heavenly Father. I have felt the Spirit of God many times. Even at times as I struggled with my faith. Even with the struggles of the natural man, I have felt the love of God that I cannot deny.

How I live my faith

I strive to do the right things and to always help other people. I love to serve my wife, children, family, friends and strangers. It is through service that we truly show our love for Jesus Christ and receive a remission of our sins. I have a personal relationship with God our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. Within my mind I often feel that I am in a continuing conversation with them. I recently realized this as I have struggled with trials. Through thes trials I have felt the love of God, and the influence of his Spirit assist me in finding the path of Eternal Life and hold the iron rod to follow that path. The more I serve the more I feel that the path and rod of iron are the Principles of the Gospel and the service we are willing to render. Grasping the rod is serving God and our fellow man.
