Hi I'm Darlene

I grew up in Alberta, Canada. I now live in British Columbia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a grandmother of 3 grandsons and 3 granddaughters who are very special. I love to crochet things for them.

Why I am a Mormon

I learned about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after my parents joined the church. I was married and I went to a few firesides with my parents and to Relief Society with my mom. I had a feeling that 'if I ever change religions this will be the one'. After that when I would go to the church that I was raised in I felt something missing and that I was in the wrong place. My parents had given me a Book of Mormon and also a book called A Marvelous Work and a Wonder. After I attended Al-Anon for awhile I decided I wanted to 'turn my life over to God' and I got out the books that my dad had given me and it was The Marvelous Work and a Wonder book that really touched my heart. I started going to the Mormon Church, met with the missionaries and was baptized along with my eldest daughter who was 8 at the time. Every thing I have learned has I have continued to be a member touches my heart and makes so much sense to me.

How I live my faith

I live in a small branch and I have served as Relief Society President, Young Women President, Primary President, taught Seminary. I love to go to the temple with my husband. We were sealed as a family over 20 years ago. I have helped in the community with therapeutic riding by serving as secretary on the board for ten years. My husband and I enjoy reading scriptures together. We love to spend time with friends going to a movie and out for dinner, or having them to our home for dinner. We are currently serving an 18 month mission in Salt Lake City - Family and Church History Headquarters Mission. We love this mission and all the people that we meet.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

The missionaries pay their own way. Members can donate to a missionary fund that will help missionaries who are unable to pay their own way. Show more Show less
