Hi I'm Wendy

I'm a farmers daughter, married to a city boy, a mom to 1 daughter & 5 sons, I'm a "gramma" and... I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I wear many "hats" as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, niece, grandma, friend, teacher, student, and the list goes on..among my favorite things are my family, my freedom, my faith and the hope I have in my future. I love to learn and strive to develop my gifts and talents by study and practice. The one thing I have realized is there is not enough time to learn all I would like. But I will learn what I can in the time I have. I have many goals and interests including but not limited to, learning to play the violin, mastering the art of portraiture, speaking Portuguese fluently, and the joy of creating whether it be through art, gardening, cooking, sewing, teaching, my children or others. I love the beautiful world we have to live in find great joy in it's wonders and treasure every good thing. I collect Pigs. The story in brief, (having raised pigs, I've always loved them and since marrying into the Parker family, be affectionately refer to ourselves as the "Porker's".

Why I am a Mormon

My Grandmother was the first to receive the missionaries on her doorstep and invite them in. She had many questions that her ecclesiastical leaders were unable to answer. She was taught and learned and accepted the gospel and was baptized. Later, my parents listened, and were converted to the church when I was a year old, so I have been raised in the church. However, I have gained a testimony for myself from a very young age. I was 8 years old and just baptized when I lost my brother in a farm accident. Through that experience I learned early on about the importance eternal families. And that death is not an end but only a separation from our loved ones. I learned the significance of the Saviors atonement and that he provided a way that we will all live again and we can return to live with him through our faithfulness to our baptismal covenants. By obedience we can live as families together forever. That knowledge carries with it a comfort a peace that is beyond description. That knowledge had kept me on a path I intend to pass on to my children and posterity, and anyone who will hear me. That knowledge has carried me through many difficult times. I love my family and friends so much and want to be with them forever and ever. There is only one way by and through the Savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

As I have grown up, I have had many opportunities to learn and serve. As a child, I participated in the childrens organization called primary, learning to love the stories from the scriptures from many wonderful teachers. As a youth I attended seminary and learned to liken the scriptures to my own life in many fun ways. My understanding increased! In my adult life, I have served in many organizations within the church. Teaching children, youth, adults, sharing talents, leading, following, helping, serving. My various callings in the church have caused to grow in ways I would never have thought or done otherwise. I have been richly blessed through serving others. I have always come out of the experience a better person than when I began. I feel being a parent is the hardest and probably the most important thing I will have to do. I feel a great responsibility to teach correct principles so the children will have the knowledge to make righteous decisions on their own. And pass that on to their own children, and so on..
