Hi I'm Alex

I'm a Mormon. I am a husband, a father, a healthcare strategist and runner

About Me

I work in the healthcare industry. I am striving to be like Christ as I learn how to be a loving husband and engaged father. As a family, we love to spend time outside and serve others.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who were members of the church, so naturally, I went to church regularly. There did a come a time when I realized that I needed to find out for myself if this is the path I wanted to pursue. I was able to assess the joy and peace I felt going to church, reading the scriptures, and following the commandments. I cannot point to a specific moment in time when I finally knew the restored gospel was true, but it came little by little through reading the Book of Mormon, following the words of prophets, as well as, sharing my testimony. As I felt the peace that comes through the Spirit, I knew that God was pleased with my decisions to be obedient.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through small day to day decisions of trying to follow the example of Jesus Christ. In all situations, we can choose how we act and I do my best to be kind, loving and when I mess up, I seek forgiveness. That pattern is most evident in how I try to interact with my family. Our family motto is, "learning heaven," which reminds us that we are all learning to live with our Father in Heaven again and live as He lives. I encounter situations with my wife and young children where I have to exercise patience, forgiveness, love, repentance and they have to be patient with my faults and weaknesses. I strive to put things of a spiritual nature ahead of other priorities. Scripture study, prayer, attending my church meetings and trying to help others on a daily basis are the most important things I try to do daily.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

The temple is a very sacred not secret place. On each temple is inscribed, "The House of the Lord." If I was to visit the Lord's house, I would want to prepare myself physically and spiritually. As such, in order for the temple to remain a refuge from the world, a place where we can commune with our Father in Heaven, those who enter must live to a certain level of moral standards. We do not seek to keep people out of the temple, but invite everyone to prepare themselves to enter the temple. Inside the temple we are able to better understand why we are here on earth and my role as a husband, father, and disciple of Christ. We participate in sacred ordinances and are able to be bound with our families for all eternity. Show more Show less
