Hi I'm Seth Dodge

I grew up in Mesa, Arizona. I do pest control for a living. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for almost ten years. I am a father of five children. We started home schooling three years ago. I did not expect that our family would grow closer together, I am grateful. I work long hours five days a week for a local pest control company while my wife stays home. I enjoy cooking dinner after work and seeing the satisfaction of my family consuming a good warm meal. I also like to draw with pencil and prisma color pencils. My sweet wife allows me to help neighbors and friends when they need me after work or on weekends while she watches the kids. I love playing with my children.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a strong Mormon family. My parents taught me what the spirit felt like when i was young. They taught me that I could receive answers to my prayers. Often times i did pray and receive answers. Wether it was to find my wallet or to be safe on a trip. I always felt i was doing the right thing by attending the Mormon church. One Sunday during fast and testimony meeting when I was 17 one of the girls in the group said she prayed and asked God if the Book of Mormon was true. She referenced Moroni's promise that if you ask with faith in Christ he would answer your prayer by the power of the holy ghost. She explained that she felt a strong feeling of peace and warmth when she asked. She said she knew it was true and that the things which were taught in it and the bible were true. I felt jealous that I myself did not know for sure. A few months went by then I finally gathered the courage to ask Heavenly Father for myself if the Book of Mormon was a truly another witness of Jesus Christ. I prayed nonchalantly. Then tried again with no answer. At this time i wondered if i was going to get an answer. I finally began to read my scriptures more. I wanted to get my self in tune. I realized I had to prepare my heart and mind first. I prayed this time with more sincerity. On my knees while waiting for some kind of answer I felt a strong feeling of comfort. Very strong! I have felt the warmth of the spirit before but this brought me to tears. I felt loved and strengthened at the same time. Afterwards i felt drained of energy and amazed at the moment experienced. Now at 18 years old I finally could say I know the Book of Mormon was a true record. It confirms the truth taught in the bible and solidifies my testimony in my savior Jesus Christ. It means that this is the same organization that existed in the primitive church, restored to its fullness in the last days.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday. Not because I should but because I want to feel that feeling of home every Sunday. I always feel better for going even when at first I may not want to go. It's my responsibility to lead my family in spiritual matters. When I am doing well i read my scriptures in the morning and at night my wife and i have just recently begun to have the kids act out the scriptures to help them pay attention. Then my wife and I study together before we close for the day. Another member in our ward is responsible for gathering men to volunteer to assist those who are moving in or out of the area to load or unload their u-haul. I enjoy helping out on the moves. It gives me a sense of community. My kids and i also get to know our neighbors who are not members. We are good friends with one of our christian neighbors. We are always helping each other out with baby sitting and sharing brownies or cookies or working on their cars with them.
