Hi I'm Greg

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a married father of four children. My wife and I are nearly empty nesters. Two of our children are married and two are at college most of the year. I enjoy camping, fishing and puttering in the garden when not at work. Our hobbies have changed some because our hobbies were going to our children's activities- scouting, wrestling, football, lacrosse, music, acting and hosting their friends for dances and parties.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed by being raised in the church in an active family. When I was a senior in high school a classmate said to me, "I guess you are going to go on a mission." I remarked that I thought so but the question caused me to think about my decision. When I served a mission I experienced a tremendous growth experience that was great and challenging. My parents divorced when I was serving and the rigors of the missionary work were stretching. On a particularly trying day, I was questioning my life and decisions. We were teaching an investigator couple and were at a point in their progress that they needed to pray about whether Joseph Smith was a prophet and if the message that we were teaching was true. We knelt together and I prayed first to give a pattern. I was asking for me as much as for them. The Lord chose to bless me with a peaceful warmth that caused me to feel joy and excitement. I really knew for myself that which I had know intellectually and taken as a matter of upbringing. Since that time I have been active. I still have trials like everyone else. I still get discouraged about life and my many weaknesses but as I read and study the scriptures, serve in callings those reassurances come as often as I allow them and I have a source of strength that brings me through the trying times. I try to attend the temple often and focus on the things that matter most. My testimony grows as President McKay once said, "The testimony that I sought came as a natural consequence of doing my duty in the Church". I know the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I know that HE is God,s almighty son. Jesus Christ lives and guided the Church through living prophets as in the past. That Church was restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon and the Bible are true, as are the other scriptures of the restored Gospel. We are children of A Heavenly Father, and have the divine potential to be come like him. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the Church has given me many opportunities to grow. I have been asked to do many things. I spent many years working in the Boy Scout organization as assistant scoutmaster and scoutmaster. I worked to help develop the University of scouting in the local area. I have served as a teacher at various times and asked to serve in some leadership positions. I have helped create training and participated in youth leadership training programs and workshops. As my children have been involved in sporting events I have coached their teams and tried to be involved in other ways. These opportunities have given me the chance to live the principles of truth as the Savior taught outside of church. I have tried to be a good neighbor and willing to help as neighbors move in or out of the neighborhood. I have attended and received training in our community emergency response program. It is a great chance to get to know many great, dedicated people outside of our faith. My wife and I visit some of the elderly people in the community and give them an opportunity to talk about their lives.
