Hi I'm Steve

I'm a music teacher, a husband, and a dad. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married for 9 years to a wonderful girl. We have 3 kids who are growing up way too fast. I teach music at a middle school and a high school. Band is my main focus, but I also teach general music classes. I enjoy the interaction with kids at this age. It's so incredible to see them grow from little 10 year olds into confident young adults. In addition to enjoying music, I enjoy sports and spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the principles taught are true. It's really as simple as that. As I've followed the direction the church gives, my life has been blessed. The principles of the gospel give my life direction, but more than that I gain perspective of this life and the next.

How I live my faith

As a teacher in the public schools I have the opportunity to be an example to the youth of our community. I have the privledge of guiding, counseling and helping them in many ways. I also have the honor of working with the Webelos scout group in our area. By working with these groups I am able to show them that it's good to be honest, loyal and to love God. I encourage them to be kind to one another and to make friends with those around them. I've seen wonderful things happen with these young kids and I'm honored to help with that in some way.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Giving is a way in which we can give back a little of what God blesses us with. He has given us everything and only asks for a little back to help further his work. In the Bible it is refered to as a tithe. Many religions tithe to help with the costs of running a church. The word tithe means "tenth", and so we give 10 percent of our income to the church, or back to God. As the Bible promises, we are greatly blessed because of this giving.  Show more Show less
