Hi I'm Ben

I live in Oregon, where I enjoy Skiing, Bicycling & Camping. I'm a father of 4. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a wonderful wife, and four beautiful children, ages 11 - 19. They all keep me very busy. I enjoy spending time with my family in the evenings and on the weekends, when I'm not working. I enjoy spending special time with just one kid at a time, taking them to icecream or taking the dogs for a walk. A lot of my friends have hobbies and other interests. For me, my spare time is spent with my family and I'm good with that.

Why I am a Mormon

The teachings of the Mormon Church help me be a good father and a better husband. I understand the need to be a good example to my family, how to preside righteously, and what I can do to keep my family together forever. To me, that is the greatest blessing we have on this earth - the ability to be married to my wife for time and all eternity, with our family sealed to us. Not "til death do us part", but beyond this life. When you realize that the way you behave and the way you teach your children affects the opportunities you will have in the next life, it makes you think. I am grateful that I have this knowledge. The gospel taught in the church is real. It's practical. It's helpful now. There is much to do, and I understand what I need to do. Now, I just need to do it. I am grateful for a loving Heavenly Father that watches over me and forgives me when I make mistakes which I do. I am grateful for a Savior, who suffered for me and was resurrected, and that I can live again. It makes me try harder.

How I live my faith

I serve in my church congregation (ward) as the Young Men's President. I have about 20 young men (ages 12-19) that I, along with other leaders in our ward work with on a weekly, if not daily basis. We have activities on Wednesday nights for them. We call this Mutual. Sometimes we learn about careers, sometimes we work on advancement activities in scouting, and sometimes we just play dodge ball. The goal is for the boys to bond with each other and support each other as they face challenges in their life.

Are Mormons Christians?

Jesus Christ leads our church. We are his followers. We do many "Christian" acts of service including serving in callings in the church, being a home or visiting teacher, and paying tithing. Show more Show less
