Hi I'm Kayla Desira

I am a wife of a military doctor, mother of 2, I live with epilepsy and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Oregon and loved knowing everybody in my town. When I was 3 years old I was hit by a car, and suffered major head trauma, it was a miracle I survived. I recovered fairly quickly and during my childhood I showed no complications from the accident. I moved to a larger city in Washington state when I was 6, and enjoyed and spent most of my time playing sports, specifically soccer. During my high school years I started having absence seizures which looks like someone is spacing out for a few seconds. I started having them 10-20 times a day by the time I graduated from high school. They didn't effect any part of my life at that point. I was very involved with soccer and was playing at a very competitive level along with my high school team. My goal was to play in college and go on to be a professional. Shortly after graduating I started getting really bad migraines and ended up having a grand mal seizure. My life from that day on shifted gears in a way I was not expecting. My life for the last 12 years has not consisted of soccer, but of suffering from depression, many hospital stays, lots of close encounters with death, lots of dr. appts and starting anti-seizure medication. BUT I would not change any part of my life because I know that God is in control of it. I have been blessed beyond measure and have overcome these trials by trusting Gods will and not mine. I have a very loving husband and 2 healthy and thriving children! And I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith, I know that the Priesthood has been restored to its full extent and is on the earth today and I know that we have a living Prophet on the earth today who receives revelation, inspiration and guidance from God directly. I know these things because I have prayed and studied scriptures and have felt the peace of the Holy Spirit testify to me that all of these things are true. I grew up as a Mormon, and was so blessed to know from a very young age that keeping the commandments is so important and that as we obey God's laws we are much happier. I also learned that obeying God's laws does not mean life is easier, sometimes it's harder but I have found in my own life that when I take the easy road I am not as happy as I could be. The hard road has brought me to where I am today. I tried to take the easy way plenty of times but every time I was eventually faced with the hard way. I found as I put God's will first instead of mine, my will became His will. I believe as we put God's will first, blessings and miracles from God can happen daily. We must have eyes to see and ears to hear the miracle's of God. And I believe in miracle's

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others as Christ did. I love opportunities to serve and try to find ways to help my family, friends, neighbors and strangers in anyway possible. I enjoy making people smile and strive to always look for the good in people. I have the opportunity of serving the children at church. I love that I am able to help strengthen there knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ and help them feel the light of Christ. I also teach my own children the principles and ordinances of the Gospel in our home and try to help them strive to live there life as a follower and disciple of Christ. I also pray and read uplifting messages or scriptures everyday to help strengthen my knowledge of God and His Son Jesus Christ. Somedays it may be only one verse or a short paragraph but those few simple words make all the difference in my day. I love the outdoors and find peace and serenity in being close to nature. I believe that by taking care of the earth and keeping it clean, we show or love for God by that simple act.
