Hi I'm Joy

I love horses and like to make things, fix my fences and barns and work in my yard and in my house. I sew and cook. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife a mother and a grandma, a horse rider and trainer, a moderetly good seamstess and cook. I like to grow flowers. I am a do-it-your-self kind of person. I have installed 28 lights on my property in the last year and a half. I fix things things, using scraps if I can. I am a privet type person and like to work by my self or can teach others. I don't do well when others tell me what I am doing is not correct, especally if the project is mine, for me, and I created it. Kind of pridefull I guess. I rely a lot on the Holy Spirit to help me know how to do things so I don't get hurt and can accomplish my goals.

Why I am a Mormon

I was not raised in this church. When I was a young mother I felt I needed to raise my child (I had more children later) in a good church so she could know Jesus Christ. I voiced my opinion to God and he sent the missionaries right away. I know that this is the most true church on the earth today because God has told me so. I have felt a reasurence of this feeling over and over. I have asked God several times in my life if he was there and if this chruch was the right place for me to be. He always answered me. The answer was always yes this is the right church and I am where I need to be. There have been many trials and problems that I have had to overcome with the help of the Holy Spirit. The people of the chruch may not be perfect but the gospel is.

How I live my faith

One of the ways I live my faith is to use it to teach horses to be better companions to people. The Lord has always helped me with this and encourages me to do it . It is a service to the noble horse as well as to the people who use them. I feel inadiquet sometimes as a Mormon because I am not as perfect at doing some of the things that I hear I should do. But I am doing things the Lord wants to the best of my ability. I live the standards and the commandments. I attend church and fulfull my callings. I help my children and grandchildren to gain tesimonies of Jesus Christ.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Why not? The Bible says 10% is the amount you have to pay and all churches ask their members to donate money. The thing I like about it is that the money goes to help others, and to build churches and to do good in the world. And remember that God loves and blesses people for their efforts to follow teachings of Jesus Christ. Jesus said to be generous. He commended people for paying their Tiths and offerings. He promised us rewards for doing so. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Before I joined this chruch I though it was unfair that the people of the old testiment got to have someone to guide them. Someone to ask modern questions to. Someone to help them if they need it. When I found out that the LDS church had a prophet I was not sure about that. I had been taught that no prophet was needed. Inspite of my thoughts that it was not fair that we did not have a modern prophet the only churchs that I had attended told me no prophet was needed. I was confused. I did not find the answers I needed in the Bible. I needed to be guided in the things of my life not Daniels life or some other person. So I prayed and ask God if the LDS Prophet was truly a Prophet like Abraham or Moses. The feeling I got was a definate yes. Show more Show less
