Hi I'm Laura Card

I'm a Mormon. I have a PhD, I teach at a university, I'm a mother/ grandmother, I write books, and my hobby is riding motorcycles.

About Me

I am the mother of six, grandmother of several, and the wife of a marvelous man. I served a mission for the Church. I have a PhD in rhetoric and composition and I teach writing at the university level. I am also an author of academic material and short stories, poetry, and novels. I love to read, travel, and ride motorcycles. My wonderful husband and I have traveled all over the world. Several years ago our oldest daughter died. We've also survived illnesses and our home burning down. Our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, our membership in the LDS Church, and our love for each other got us through these tragedies and several others.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in the Christ of the New Testament and the Restoration of gospel through Jesus Christ and the obedience of Joseph Smith to his Heavenly Father. My faith is my foundation. It is the reason for everything I do. The gospel makes perfect sense within the logic of the restored and revealed gospel. It is the hope I have for the future I know I will have with my family and loved ones for eternity.

How I live my faith

The one constant in my life is my activity in the Church--attending meetings, paying a full tithe, attending the temple, fulfilling callings. These things bring me peace and fulfillment in spite of what the world throws at me and my family. My faith enhances my family relationships and my marriage. The gospel of Jesus Christ shows me how to live.
