Hi I'm Julianne

I'm an adoptive mom. I'm a writer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My dad was in the military, so besides living a few places stateside, I also lived in Germany for a while. I love learning about different languages, peoples, and cultures. One summer, I got a job working at the Porsche factory. I wanted to learn more German, so I made a rule for myself that besides speaking in German, I also had to think in German. Unfortunately, I didn't know a lot of words, so it made for some very boring days. But, eventually I learned German. I've always struggled with my weight, but several years ago a doctor told me that she wouldn't preform the fertility treatments I wanted until I lost 60 lbs. So, I worked out at the gym 4 hours a day and lost 70 lbs in 6 months and got the fertility treatments. I already loved swimming and dancing, but now I love yoga, biking, and I don't completely hate running. Unfortunately the fertility treatments were unsuccesful. I only got pregnant once and then I miscarried. But, we've been blessed to grow our family through adoption. Right now I spend most of my time taking care of three little cuties that are only a total of 15 1/2 months apart in age. I'm also working on writing a fiction novel. I think my writer's group will be shocked if I ever finish it, but maybe someday...

Why I am a Mormon

I was lucky enough to be a member of the church my whole life. When I was 13 I came home from church one day and decided to pray and find out if the church was true. I decided that if it wasn't true, I was going to live my life differently.... maybe not follow the high standards anymore. After reading Moroni 10 verses 3-5 I knelt down beside my bed and prayed. While I was praying, I heard words inside of my head say, "It's true. You've always known it's true." And I did. I know that Jesus is our Savior and Redeemer and that we are all children of a Heavenly Father who loves us and wants us to be like him. I know that God has a plan for us and that there is a purpose to our lives on this earth. I know that God sent prophets to tell us about God's plan for us to be happy. But, our Heavenly Father doesn't just leave us alone to try and figure out who is teaching truths and who isn't. He hears every single one of His children and answers our prayers. If we really want to know if something is true and we're listening for the answer, Heavenly Father will answer.

How I live my faith

If you know that something is right or true, I think you should do your very best to follow that truth. That's why I do a lot of the things I do in my daily life. When I do my budget, I make sure to pay our tithing and fast offerings. Even if it's an extra busy day and we don't take the time to sit down and read scriptures together as a family, we at least listen to them on cd while we're going somewhere. We have family prayers together and we teach our children to say their own prayers. We have family home evening every week where we have a spiritual message and then do some sort of activity together. I teach my children songs about Jesus and his gospel. I talk to my kids about making good choices and bad choices and tell them about how much Jesus loves them and wants them to make good choices. I also have responsibilities in my church. I'm in charge of running bi-monthly activities for the 8-11 year old girls in our ward or congregation. We always discuss at least one verse of scripture even at our pool party last year and then we have an activity that focuses either on service, developing talents, or about learning and living the gospel. A friend and I visit some of the other women from our ward and share a spiritual message with them and try and see if there's anything we can do to help them out.

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

Julianne
Husbands and wives can definitely be together forever. When I got married to my husband in the temple it made me so happy. I think marriage is fabulous and I love being married to my husband. I would be devastated if I thought that my husband and I couldn't live together forever with our families. Knowing that Jesus Christ's atonement and resurrection made it possible for us to have forever marriages and forever families makes me even more grateful for Jesus Christ than I was before I got married.
