Hi I'm Rocky

I'm a husband, father, and a Community Recreation Coordinator. I love Star Trek but love my family more. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father with a beautiful wife and five wonderful daughters. I love spending time with them - their hugs and kisses can make any day better. I really enjoy astronomy, going to the gym, reading and Star Trek. I have a degree in Education but have chosen a path of recreation and community development. Overall, I am a fairly simple man who enjoys a simple life.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel this is where God wants me to be. He led me to the Church more than I was seeking it. I had little religious background. I was agnostic and moving towards being an atheist. When friends invited me to meet with missionaries, I initially said no but thanks to their examples I said yes so I could learn more about what made my friends the way they are. I started learning but things were going nowhere. One night as I was driving home, I prayed for the first time with faith that God would hear. I asked about what I wanted to know, "Is the Book of Mormon true (or in other words, is it truly from God?) Yes or No?" I was ready for either answer, yes or no, and would act accordingly no matter what God told me. The next morning the answer came to me in I way I had never experienced before and one I couldn't deny. The answer was "Yes". This answer taught me that God really existed, that the Book of Mormon was true and that its teachings about Jesus being my Saviour were true. That started my life as a Christian. I did as I had promised God and changed my life based on His answer. That's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

The thing I do most often is hum and sing hymns. It really helps me feel peaceful and sometime I don't even realize I am doing it. I also read scripture and pray regularly. I have fulfilled various responsibilities at church and attending each week is a highlight. Be it in formal or informal ways, my faith is a major part of who I am and what I do.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Absolutely. Growing up without any religious background, the Bible had little meaning for me. Now as a Mormon raising a young family, we read from the Bible regularly. I share Old Testament stories at night with my children. We read Jesus' words in the New Testament. It helps me personally come closer to Jesus as my Saviour. We treasure the Bible as the word of God. Our lives wouldn't be the same without it. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

The Bible has existed throughout countless ages and has helped and guided men towards God.During His time on earth, Jesus established His church. He called certain followers as Apostles to lead His church after His death and resurrection. Later the Apostles themselves were killed and men began to change the original Christian church. Thanks to the Bible and through direct communication with Heaven, the original Christian church has been re-established in our day. The church is led again by the Lord through Apostles and it has been a blessing in my life. Show more Show less
