Hi I'm Jacob Dempsey

I'm a father, a husband, a computer consultant, a judo coach, and a Mormon.

About Me

I married my wife in ’97, and we now have 3 wonderful sons. As a volunteer Judo coach, I have the opportunity to work with a lot of kids. Seeing the different challenges that they needlessly face makes me extremely glad to have the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. Our Heavenly father didn’t send us here with out a manual on life. He gave us scriptures that have so many answers to the questions we are trying to answer daily. These scripture are his words given through Holy Prophets, and best of all, he has not forgotten us today. He has given us a living prophet to lead us through these challenging times. The gospel of Jesus Christ will not removal all adversity from you life, but it will give you the strength and the wisdom to make it through. It will allow you to live a happy full life despite what adversity may come.

Why I am a Mormon

When I started searching to know for my self about religion, I started from the beginning. I first had to learn for myself, does god exist, and does he answer our prayers. I knew that my parents believed it, there came a time in my life where knowing that they believed wasn’t good enough to sustain me. After having learned for myself that god does exist, and does answer prayers, I was satisfied for quite a few years to just accept what my parents believed, but eventually I had to ask the question for myself. Does god have a true church upon the earth, and if so, which is it? In this search I studied about many different religions, but ultimately the final answer came from asking god. Being a member of Christ’s church blesses my life every day. There are many religions that teach good principles, that help men to be better, but Jesus only has one church and one way that we may receive all of the blessings of the Kingdom of Heaven. That one way is through his church that he setup during his mortal ministry on earth, and then restore to the earth in our day. That is way I am a mormon.

How I live my faith

I have served in many capacities in church, currently I am the Sunday School President for in my congregation. I make sure that there are Sunday School Teachers prepared to teach the teenagers and adults each Sunday, make sure that they have the materials that they need to teach, as well as assisting anyone in the congregation learn how to be a more effective teacher. Previously I have been an assistant membership clerk, president and counselor in various organizations in the Church, and a full time missionary. There is no monetary compensation for any of these opportunities to serve, but the blessings from heaven are abundant. In the community, I volunteer as a Judo instructor, teaching youth from ages 5 to 10. While I don’t teach anything religious, I am able to help instill in these youth the values of hard work, honesty, integrity, courage, and respect.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Jacob Dempsey
Faith, like talents, can be increased. If we desire to increase or improve a talent, we study how to use that talent and then we practice or use that talent. It is by this repeated examination and use that we improve our talents. Using this same pattern, we can increase our faith in Jesus Christ. I recommend picking a particular aspect of faith in Christ to focus on, like repentance through the atonement or prayer. Study about your chosen area in the scriptures, and then being trying to apply what you have been learning. As you study and apply what you learn, your faith in Jesus will increase as well as your love for him and his gospel. You will see the positive effects of his gospel in your life. Show more Show less
