Hi I'm McKay

I play the drums, sing to myself, write music, I love to make people laugh, I'm from Virginia and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Earlier in my life I would say that I didnt really know my role in life, in society. I wasn't on my way to being somebody. One day I realized I wanted more in my life. I wanted to do something in my life but I didnt know what to do. It all started one day when one of my friends came up to me in the 7th grade and wanted to start a band. We didnt play any instruments so we set a goal to learn them. My dad had played the drums earlier in life so I went home and asked my dad to teach me. My dad began showing me how on the back of my sisters shoes since we didnt have any drums (they had a good amount of rebound for drumming). We began practicing every day. We bought our first drumset after a little while and it took off from their. I practiced hours everyday. I had something I wanted to do. All of a sudden I had a dream. It changed everything. I was ranked #1 high school drummer in my county my freshmen year. The next year I was in the All-Virginia band. I also started my own rock band. More importantly than having a hobby, I had discovered that I could be whatever I wanted. I realized that our possibilities in life are bigger than we can ever imagine. I realized that if we want to be something or do something all we have to do is work at it than we can be anything. Starting to play the drums was a big turning point in my life. I begun looking at every aspect of my life differently. I applied the things I had learned from drumming to every aspect of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I beleive it is the true church of God. I prayed and asked God if it was true and I got an answer. Then all I needed to know was what the church taught that I should do in my life, then I did it. I get spiritual witnesses of the truth everyday. I have seen many others come to know this as well.

How I live my faith

I keep the commandments and serve in any way that I can. During high school I always participated in the youth groups. In college I served as a family home evening coordinator. Since we all lived away from our families, we met each week with other students in our bulding. I was in charge of organizing an activity every monday night for our group. I have learned that the more effort you put into something the more you get out of it. The same thing applies with church. Right now I am a full-time missionary. I spend my days talking to hundreds of people I have never met about the gospel of Jesus Christ.
