Hi I'm Kim

I grew up in Southern California. I'm a military wife, a mother of four, and a nursing student. I love being a Mormon!

About Me

I was adopted as a baby through the Catholic adoption services. This meant my parents had to be practicing Catholics in order to adopt me. My Catholic parents were divorced by the time I was age 7. Religion for me at that point ceased to exist. As a young adult I joined the Army and my high school boyfriend did the same and we were soon married. We had an amazing son together. After about six years of marriage we went our separate ways and divorced. At that point in my life I knew something was missing and turned to the Catholic church to fill that void. After months of study I moved and attempted to join the Catholic church in my new town. Because I had been baptized as a baby they said I could not join their adult program. Once again religion ceased to exist in my life. I soon met the man of my dreams. We married and soon thereafter moved to Okinawa, Japan. My husband grew up in the church but he became inactive after joining the army. Soon after giving birth to our third child my husband deployed to the Philippines. My Mormon friend invited my family to a church BBQ. The missionaries soon spotted me and asked me if they could come visit me.I loved the spirit I felt as they taught me. I soon gained a testimony of the restored gospel and agreed to be baptized. My oldest son was soon taught by the missionaries as well and desired to be baptized. On a very special day in October 2003 my son and I were baptized in the East China Sea. What a very special day for our family!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon simply because this Gospel is the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our Savior's church has been restored to the earth in these latter days. What a blessing this is!!! What a privilege it is to live in this time. How amazing it is to see the work go forth and spread like a fire. I love the church. I love how the Gospel has strengthened my family. I have come to know what it truly means to love and know my Heavenly Father. I can honestly say that I now know what my life means and why it is so important to keep the commandments. Heavenly father knows me personally. He loves me and blesses me each and every day. I know Jesus is the Christ and that he loves us. He atoned for our sins and died on the cross. He was resurrected. Through him we can obtain eternal life. The Gospel really brings peace into our lives. When we keep the commandments we have nothing to worry about. The Lord gives us commandments to bless us. I love being a Mormon. I love that the Lord has called a prophet in these latter days. I love that our church has the restored priesthood which is vital to our salvation. The priesthood blesses everyone. We can receive ordinances through the power of the priesthood that are essential for us to return to our Father. I remember when the missionaries began to teach me, right away I felt the spirit that they brought into my home. They truly loved me. They asked me to pray about what they taught, Joseph Smith and The Book of Mormon, I eagerly said YES!!! That night after I finished reading the scriptures I knelt by my bed and began to offer a prayer to the Lord. I truly asked with a sincere heart, having faith, and knowing I would receive an answer by that faith. Instantly a very warm feeling filled my soul. Words cannot describe what I felt. I felt amazing and I knew this was my answer!! The Book of Mormon was the word of God, Joseph Smith was a prophet and the church truly had been restored to the earth!! I finally felt true joy in my life.

How I live my faith

I love my savior Jesus Christ. I know he is the only begotten of the Father. I know he lives. I know it is through him that we can have eternal life and be with our family forever. I try to trust in him always. I strive to be an obedient disciple by serving others, being a good example to those around me, and being the best mother I can be. Knowing my purpose on this earth really helps me to understand my divine potential. I am truly a daughter of God. I am capable of doing so many things as long as I trust in him. I currently serve as a ward missionary and the gospel doctrine teacher. I have had many teaching callings in the church and I truly enjoy it. When we teach we are the ones that end up learning the most. The more I learn the more I become closer to my Heavenly Father. I love working with the missionaries. I try very hard to serve them in whatever they need. Our Father in Heaven wants all of his children to return to him and it is up to us to "feed his sheep". We will have so much joy when we share the gospel with others. That fire we had can be re-ignited inside of us. I love to attend church every Sunday and partake of sacrament. This allows me an opportunity to reflect on my week. I evaluate myself and what I could be doing better to show my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This special time allows me to use the atonement in my life. I love the way I feel as I close my eyes and pray to my Heavenly Father and ask him to help me to be better. I love that I can ask him to forgive me of the things in which I fall short of. I love how he not only forgives me but he also forgets my transgressions. I love how each week as long as I am faithful I can be renewed. This is all possible because of the atonement of Jesus Christ. How do I live my faith? I come unto my Savior and trust in him, I lean on him, I confide in him. It is because of the atonement that he can succor me because he knows me. He loves me and I love him. I want to be like him.
