Hi I'm Paul

I'm just a quiet guy who tries to be kind to everyone. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My passion as a teenager was playing Basketball, even when I wasn't very good at it. From basketball I learned many important lessons in life, but most importantly I learned how to fly. I am married and a father of four children who have all grown up and gone off to college and/or marriage. My first two grandchildren are due in the latter part of 2011. I'm really looking forward to that chapter of my life with my wife of 30+ years. I guess I can say that I have had several professions since I "turned pro" at the age of 21, meaning my first full time job to support a family. After going to college part-time for 10 years I finally got a BS in Computer Science which has really blessed my life in many ways. I love to design software and program a computer. I have also enjoyed teaching about computers. I like to write fiction. I've taken some writing classes just for fun, but I still find it overwhelming to try to write anything longer than a short story. I also like to read fiction, but I seem too busy to pick up a good book lately.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the Church when I was about 3 years old, so I grew up going to Church every Sunday and participating in other weekday activities. I'll admit that for too many years I went because my parents took me, and because many of friends were there, but there comes a time for everyone when it becomes necessary to learn for oneself whether the Church is just a nice play to be, or whether it is where we need to be, and whether the teachings just sound nice, or whether they are inspired from God. For me this happened when I was 16. Like most teenagers I had my various struggles that made me sad. While trying to work my way through these problems I finally picked up and read the Book of Mormon for the first time. Oh, I had read it before, but just verses here and there in Sunday School or some other setting. But this time I started reading from the first page and worked my way forward. I felt such a strong good Spirit when I read it, which carried with me throughout the day that even my friends noticed something was different. I knew it was from God. I've had many experiences since then that have strengthened my conviction, but I will always remember that first great experience that came from reading the Book of Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have done many things in the Church over the years. I have taught little children, teenagers and adults. Teaching the gospel has somehow taught me more than anything the students have learned from me. I have held many leadership positions as well. I have been the leader of my congregation for two years now, which have gone by so fast. It is a big job that requires a lot of my time and which is filled with emotional ups and downs as I interact with the members and try to help them come closer to Jesus. Thankfully, I have many people to help me, as well as a Father in Heaven who loves His children.
