Hi I'm Cathy

I am a single mother of 5 children. I love pink. I will eat anything chocolate! I'm an apprentice plumber. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have five beautiful children that are the joy in my life. I love to garden and have a huge one that the kids help me with. I play the harp when nobody is looking and I also enjoy to bake and sew. After finding myself single, I have recently gone back to school and am now a registered apprentice plumber. If I ever am blessed with a bit of spare time, I can often be found with my nose firmly in a book.

Why I am a Mormon

I heard once that during trials we find out the extent of our faith and I have certainly found that to be true. Finding myself single at the age of 32 with five little children was something that I never thought would be in my future- it sure wasn't in my plans! I found myself in the unique position of having literally nowhere else to go but on my knees. I have had to learn to rely on the Lord for everything that I need. And He has provided! We have food to eat and a home with a large yard for the kids. He has encircled us about with friends and family in such a beautiful part of the world that reminds me every day of His love and goodness. As I have undertaken a long and personal journey of forgiving and healing, I have come to a greater understanding of the Atonement of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He suffered through every trial and pain we experience now on earth. He knows our pains and our loneliness because he has felt them personally. And through His sacrifice we are able to repent of all our transgressions and return to live with our Father in heaven. Sometimes things in this life don't seem fair. Feeling like our lives are being tossed about in a sea of other peoples mistakes and decisions is a helpless and lonely thing to feel. But the Lord has not cut our anchor and set us adrift. He knows us each personally and loves us with all His heart. He will not let us be lost. There is a plan and He knows every part of it. Our challenge is to let go of the fear and uncertainty and let our faith grow into a bright beacon of hope. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I know that it was restored to this earth and that we are blessed with a living prophet to guide us in these latter days. We also have the scriptures to help us learn and make righteous decisions as we navigate this earthly life. And it is a good life!

How I live my faith

I get some of the most fun jobs in church right now! Each Sunday I lead the children under 12 in their singing time and teach them new songs. We love to march or do actions while we sing, and getting our wiggles out makes the children able to enjoy the rest of their lessons. I also have recently been asked to start a choir for the adults in our church. I can't tell you how excited I am to get it going! I love to sing and I think that Heavenly Father loves to hear us do that. There is no talent necessary, of course, we can all just make a joyful noise and feel grateful for the few people who can really hit those notes!
