Hi I'm Sue-Haina

Kon ta bai! I grew up in Curacao, I moved to an other continent when I was 13, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Coocking, that's one of my main hobbies. I love to cook and to experiment with food. Beside that I love playing basketbal and watch movies with friends. I'm really someone that enjoys spending time with family and friends! Growing up I came to have a passion for learning other languages. Currently I can understand 8 of them, and I'm aspiring to learn a couple more!! I served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. And loved every moment of it. It really helps me to open my view of the world and of other people's experiences in life. Now that I'm home, I'm going to collage and am studying Islam & Arabic: How cool is that!!!

Why I am a Mormon

I was 7, when my mom first came in contact with missionaries of the LDS-church. And the very first time I entered the church building, I felt as if I was coming home. Even at that age I felt that this was going to be something that would change our lives. I was 9 when we got baptized. So you can say I grew up in church. But there comes a time when we all have to gain a testimony of the truthfulness of this message of the Gospel. That happened when I was 17. Then came the time in my life that I wanted to know for my self. So I knelt in prayer and offered the desires of my heart. I realy wanted to know if this gospel was true, and if I needed to continue on this path. And I received an answer that I will never forget. It penetrated my soul, and I knew in that moment that this church was true and that Heavenly Father wanted me to follow in His path. Since that day many things have happened in my life, good things and bad things, joyful and challanging moments. But that reassurance that I received that day, has helped me to stay anchored upon that foundation of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that this gospel is true, I know that the Book of Mormon is an other testament of Jesus Christ. It talks of Him, it helps me to feel close to Christ and to know how I can find true happiness in this life. Heavenly Father has restored His true gospel again on the earth through Joseph Smith, and shows us that the heavens are open again! He loves us so very much, and He wants to invite us to come unto Him, and learned of Him. I love my Heavenly Father, and I am blessed that I can know and that I can feel of His love every day of my life.

How I live my faith

I was working with the youth ages 12-18 years. It was an amazing experience to try to learn to know them. Their interests and the challenges they face in a world with ever changing values. I had the chance to organize events for them, to help them to strengthen their testimonies of Jesus Christ, but also to help them gain a great sense of self-worth and belonging. After that I decided to take this major step and to go on a mission. That's been the most crazy thing I've ever done, but at the same time the best decisions I've ever taken!:) Through this, I've had the chance to serve the Lord, and also learn to know other people and their interests and challenges. I learned that everybody has a story and that I have the chance to hear them and learn from them. And at the same time, they have the chance to learn from my story. Now I'm again serving these amazing youth and am grateful for the many learning experiences.
