Hi I'm Daniel R. Scott

I am from Rochester, MN and have been a member of the church since birth.

About Me

I am the 3rd of 6 kids. I am currently seeking higher education opportunities. I love sciences, particularly chemistry and physics. I want to become a materials engineer. I also enjoy designing, and constructing things, working on cars, learning about just about anything, camping/being outdoors, being with family and friends and other stuff.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, I was born in the church and for many years, my parents and friends were the main reasons I attended. But, through different experiences in my life, I developed my own conviction of the things I was taught. In April 2009 I left for an LDS mission to Montevideo, Uruguay and while I was there, day after day showed me even more the truth of all I had been taught and helped me see the importance of it in my life and how much it can help whoever applies it in their lives. I had the opportunity to help people and personally see those changes take place in their lives. I saw a drunkard who had lost all hope and joy in his life turn his life around 180 when he came to understand the plan that God had for him and his family. I saw a young man who had no direction in life and who was living on the streets, leave drugs and pursue life with more vigor and joy after learning the nature of God and his relationship to him. From those and other experiences, I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the church that Christ established originally when he was on the earth and that it contains the authority to act in the name of God in order to effect things such as baptism (the same authority that Christ gave to the original 12 apostles). I know God and Christ loves us equally as whatever other person in the history of the earth and so he is still sending us prophets to guide us and help us understand our relationship with him just as he did with people in earlier times. Basically, I’m ‘Mormon’ because of all the experiences that have shown me that God loves us and that he wants the best for us and through the “fruits” of “Mormonism” (The Book of Mormon, modern day revelations ect), I have come to understand my relationship with God and I am able to strengthen it.

How I live my faith

In “Mormonism” we have what we call “The thirteen Articles of Faith” which are 13 points that summarize our beliefs and in the last one, it says, “We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent (kind), virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.” So, it is after these points and what is taught in the scriptures, that I strive to pattern my life on a day to day basis.
