Hi I'm Cathie

I'm just a regular person and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and grandmother. I live in the country and have a big yard that I like to take care of. I also like cows and help manage a small herd of beef cows. I love to read and make little quilts for people in my family. I also am involved in family history work and enjoy helping others with their work. I like to visit with people.

Why I am a Mormon

Words from Wordsworth's "Ode to Intimations of Immortality" started my journey to membership in the church--"Our birth is a sleep and a forgetting, the soul that rises with us, our life's star, Hath had elsewhere its setting, and cometh from afar Not in entire forgetfulness, and not in utter nakedness, But trailing clouds of glory do we come from God who is our home." I read that in a Grade 12 english literature class and it jumped out at me and got me thinking about who I was and where I came from, and where I was going. I decided to go to different churches and see what they taught about Heavenly Father, and in that process was given a Book of Mormon. A month later, I started reading the Book of Mormon and had a feeling I had never experienced up to that point. I knew there was something special about the book. So, several weeks later I asked a friend how I could find out more about the church, and she suggested I call the missionaries. I did. It was the best decision I ever made. They taught me the gospel and I was baptized at 18. Being a member of the church means everything to me. It is an anchor and a foundation to all I do. I have learned much and continue to learn more every day. I often feel joy and gratitude for all that Heavenly Father has blessed me with and I know He will continue to watch over me. As a parent, the church and the teachings of the restored gospel has been my best resource.

How I live my faith

For many years I have volunteered in the family history center in our community. I currently work in the nursery on Sundays. We have a class of 8 children ages 1 1/2 to 3 years. I have fun playing, teaching, feeding and helping these little people. They are my friends. During the month I am assigned to visit 3 women in our congregation. I really enjoy these visits and the discussions we have.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Absolutely. It makes good sense to me that Heavenly Father would provide instruction from prophets to his children in our day as another way to demonstrate his love for us. And honestly, I really appreciate the direction and guidance we receive for our personal and family lives from the prophet on the earth today. Show more Show less
