Hi I'm Jacob Ryan Bates

I grew up in Whittier California. I've lost over 200 pounds in the past 4 years. I love the great outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Well I love life. One of the greatest things I've learned about our lives in the past 4 years is how interconnected our spirits, minds, and bodies. I have really been able to become a new creature in Christ over these past 4 years, and catch up with all that I was taught as a child and as a teen. Understanding the portion of God's eternal plan that I do has enabled me to become so much more than I have ever been. So much more confident, full or joy, peace, hope, and I've most definitely been able to gain a lot of patience a long this road. I love the to ride motorcycles on and off road, to work on them as well as cars, to hike, exercise, listen, learn, read, teach, I love the ocean, really enjoy scuba diving as well as fishing in both salt and fresh water. I thoroughly enjoy being an Uncle and look forward to the day I'll be a Husband and a Father. I love family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because through a long journey I was led right back to where I started. I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and fell away spiritually at a very young age. I still went to Church for the most part until my mid teens when I became both physically and spiritually not present. I fell away because going to Church didn't really ever feel good that's because I wasn't living the life style I should've been and was feeling Godly Sorrow. A principle which goes with repentance that I had no understanding of. I really had certain periods of time while growing up that were pretty spiritual. These times were mostly on camp outs, and at youth conferences. Due to the persistence of many loved ones, there examples, and prayers I was able to become who I am today. I had an experience which took place over about 3 years, a transformation, where I went from living a life of the world to being changed spiritually, mentally and physically through the Gospel of Jesus Christ which is all enabled through his everlasting Atonement. I now live in the world, however I am not of the world, and I've never been happier. Each day though I know that I have to keep moving forward, I have to continue to choose to draw nearer to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. By doing so anyone can progress to a happy more joy filled life, put it to the test. I am a Mormon because I know through the power of the Holy Ghost that Jesus is the Christ, that we have a loving Heavenly Father, that the Book of Mormon is true, and that The church Jesus Christ established upon the Earth was restored through Joseph Smith, and that we have a Prophet today President Thomas S. Monson. You can know to by that same power through prayer and action.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being the example I can be always striving to help and uplift people, to be a peace maker, and by sustaining the Prophets, Seers, and Revelators on the Earth today. Which really means to study the messages they give and follow them. I also choose to follow local leaders. This isn't something that I do without having received a confirmation. Once you know that local or world wide leaders of the Church are inspired, and are servants of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ its easy to choose to follow them and their counsel. This knowing comes by feelings or fruits of the Spirit. I help where I can whenever I can. I strive to study daily sometimes falling short of that, I study to know the truth so I can share it when I need to.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Jacob Ryan Bates
The Word of Wisdom is our Heavenly Fathers health code. Heavenly Father knows what we need spiritually, mentally and physically and with that what we don't need also. I have learned through revelation and application how the Word of Wisdom can effect the life of someone really willing to follow it. I lost about 200 pounds in about 3 years. I lost this weight and became healthy spiritually, mentally, and physically by following bits of revelation that I received when I was ready to act upon it. I began to dig within my mind and also in many good peoples minds on how I should take care of myself, and as I hiked in the hills usually I would receive more guidance on what to take in and not to take into my body. As I followed these revelations; I wasn't active in Church, I was looking for happiness and still didn't fully know where to find it. Then after about a year of thought and prayer I began my journey back into the Church, where I was able to fully recognize that what I had been living by was the Word of Wisdom and the what you eat side of it and how you take care of yourself such as with sleep, nourishment and exercise all together. A balance in these things is a huge part of the Word of Wisdom. "Ask and ye shall receive knock and it shall be opened unto you" when your ready to live fully how God would have you live or have tried many different ways to become healthy test this, God will give you what you need when your willing to follow, and more will come when you need it. What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Jacob Ryan Bates
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He lives and died for all of us. Not only did he die though he suffered for us all in the Garden of Gethsemane, even so much that he bleed from every pore. Through Jesus Christ we will all live again after we die, we through His eternal sacrifice can again live in the presence of our Heavenly Father. I really know these things to be true, through my faith in Jesus Christ I have been forgiven of my sins my burden from the mistakes I have made has been made light and because of His great love for everyone we all have that great blessing of forgiveness.
