Hi I'm Heather

Raised in Canada; home is Utah; mission is Vermont . I value family life and the simple things of the earth. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest daughter of my parents and was born and raised in Canada. I have one sister who is four years younger than I am. I came in contact with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in my last year of high school through a friend who was a member of the church. My parents were much less than happy about my interest in becoming a Mormon but after some time and a few trials my desire to join the church was realized. I love home life and have joy in making home an inviting and pleasant place to be. My husband and I build and paint and yard sale to bring comfort to our home. The fruits of the labors of gardening are both physical and spiritual for me. I love to do family history research to learn to understand my roots. I also love to spend time with my children and grandchildren and to laugh, play and share life with them.

Why I am a Mormon

I was first drawn to the church by the lifestyle, the clean living. I was raised in a home where alcohol and tobacco were used which produced in me a very real aversion to those kinds of substances. When I discovered there were other people who shared my feelings about using alcohol and tobacco I was immediately interested. And, as time went on I found that their doctrine was what I already believed and made all kinds of sense to me. There was a very uplifting and happy spirit with the members of the church. There was love and peace and joy for myself when I was amoungst the Latter Day Saint people. I knew that this was something I needed to do for myself. I as baptized at age 18 and have lived my life as close to the teachings as I knew how. I am now a senior citizen and have reaped many many blessings by trying to live the teachings of Jesus Christ. I am so happy for my membership and count the blessings that it has given me every day.

How I live my faith

As I have said already my first interest was in the Word of Wisdom, the Lord's law of health. I sought for and found a companion in the faith who shared my deep conviction to this lifestyle. We married in a temple of God and welcomed five beautiful daughters and four very awsome sons into our family over the next twenty one years. I spent my life raising and teaching these children to follow the commandments and to be faithful to the teachings of Christ. We now have 29 grandchildren who have been taught the ways of the Lord and are young and good and progressing. The joy of the fruits of my and my husbands labors to live this Gospel has been overwhelming. I have become through Christ, much more than I could ever have done on my own. I am still trying to grow and develop mentally and spiritually. It's a life long process with so much satisfaction and so many rewards. I have had various callings to serve in teaching and leadership positions in many of the organizations of the church. Currently my husband and I serve full time as missionaries in the New Hampshire, Manchester mission and are stationed in South Burlington, Vermont. Previously, we spent 18 months in Johannesburg South Africa serving in the area office in employment resources. It has all been a wonderful and growing experience for which I will forever be grateful.
