Hi I'm William

I'm a Californian, the outdoors is my playground, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

From the time i can remember i have always loved the outdoors. If there was a sport or acitvity that involved being outside, getting dirty or wet, I was all over it. And I guess i'm still that way today. I'm always planning when im going to go back to the beach or back to the mountains.I just cant get enough of being in god's creations. I love hike, snowboard, sail, cycle, hunt, surf. If its outside, then more than likely ive done it, I am doing it, or I plan on doing it. I guess I want to get the most out of life that I can, and being outside is how I try to live my life. Unfortunately my life isn't all fun, i do have to go to school. Right now i'm working to become a mechanical engineer. My ultimate goal though is to be an officer in the Navy. Then sail around the world. But first things first i guess.

Why I am a Mormon

I had the opportunity to be loved and raised by two wonderful parents who understood the importance of gaining an individual testimony. That is why im a mormon, I have come to know for myself that we do have a loving Heavenly Father, that Jesus is the Christ and that god has talked to man since the beginning of time and will do so till the end of time. I have come to know these things through the Holy Spirit, gods messenger. This knoweldge from the Holy Ghost is of so much greater importance than any intellectual knowedge a person can obtain. I was able to receive this witness through the study of god's word and through sincere prayer. I know that each person will find this to be true as well if they seek with pure heart, study, and then to put thier trust in god, and ask him. It will take time and effort, but the prize is completely worth the price.

How I live my faith

I get to live my faith everyday. Im a missionary for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. What I have noticed most is that my example and how I look is the biggest way I tell others that i'm a mormon and that I believe in Christ. The words i use, the way i respond to others and how I choose to present myself tells others that I know who I am, I know why i'm here on this earth, and I know were I an going

What do Mormons believe about family?

William
Mormons believe that families should be eternal. We believe that we were created in family units on this earth for a purpose. And god wants us to return to live with him again as as families and with our whole family. Families are so important to god's plan for us. We as a nation see that how children are raised has a huge impact on what children will ultimately become. Then when they are grown, they will treat thier children how they were treated as a child. God wants all of his children, both young and old, to live in homes of love, happiness, saftey. Families are the perfect place were children can have those things. Families are were parents can teach in love and unity. Families are were children can learn, grow, and be the happiest. We all have memories of our childhood that we will carry thoughout the rest of our lives. It is so importiant that we create the best enviorment were our children. so they will have the best memories to carry with them forever. God has given to us the responsibility to make sure this happens. Show more Show less

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

William
Each of us have questions in our lives that we want answers to. Many turn to prayer for guidance from God. But sometimes it seems as though god doesnt answer back. I know that he does, and he often does through the scriptures. When god speaks to man he does so through his prophets. Then he tells his prophets to write down what he has told them, that all may know what God has to say. This is what the scriptures are, god's word to prophets, written down and preserved. So many of our questions have already been answered in the scriptures. I have seen the blessings in my own life as I turn to the scriptures. When we truely feast on the word of god, answers to our prayers are shown, we truley come to know the Lord Jesus Christ, and our lives are filled with happiness and cannot be put out. Feasting on God's word isnt easy at first. It's alot more than just reading. It takes time, study, pondering, and prayer. But it brings into our lives a peace not from this world. What is being a Mormon like?

William
Being a mormon is pretty much like being like everyone else. We have just as many dreams, goals, doubts and uncertianties. But the biggest difference would be that we know who we are and for the most part try to live who we are all the time. We dont have to put on different faces for when we are around different people. We are mormon wether we are in a group of friends or by ourselves. One of the aspects of a typical mormon life that many people wonder about is that of our high moral standards. Its not that we believe that we are better than any group, and in no way do we look down on anyone because of thier actions or beliefs. We live these standards because we( as part of the human race) are god's children, and as god's children we try to act as Jesus Christ would. Obviously we often fall short of what we should do, but we always strive to do our best and help those around us to reach their potential as well. Its not easy being a mormon and living the way we do, but in the long run its what I have found that brings me the most happiness. Show more Show less
