Hi I'm Christopher Bruce

I love getting lost in the woods, finding my way back, and singing on the way. I'm definitely a mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, and moved to Nova Scotia, Canada, after my father died and my mom remarried a man just as worthy of the same title. I've always had a curiosity or passion or annoying obsession for music whatever you want to call it. I'm not sure how it developed, but it's not going away any time soon. I love singing almost as much as I love hearing others sing. I'm currently serving a full-time mission in British Columbia.

Why I am a Mormon

I've had the opportunity permitted by the past 20 years of my life to look for happiness. I've been taught these things adherent to this faith by my father raised as a child, but until after he passed away I never took them very seriously. I guess you could say I was missing a father-figure in my life when I turned to my Heavenly Father. I needed the faith and strength to go through trials that I've been put in, as well as the ones I put myself in. I asked this God if he was even there and if the things my father taught me were true, and He's let me know that they are. Which is how I got to this point now. I've found the peace of mind I need, I have a real, substantial and loving God who I can call Father helping me every step of the way, and I have every reason to be happy and every incentive to help others strengthen their relationship with God who will show them who they are and who they can become.

How I live my faith

I love participating in musical performances. Music has been healing to me through my life, I've felt songs answer my prayers, and I've felt sustained by the connection it has given me to God and to others. I've been blessed with a family who supports me in my endeavors. Speaking of family, I know the good influence that can come from older siblings, and I have an idea of the good I can do for my younger sisters and brother. I live my faith by making them a priority and simpy trying to be a good brother, just as Christ has been mine.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Christopher Bruce
To put it as simply as I can, baptism is one of the essential ordinances needed to return to the presence of God in Heaven, as well as being numbered as the "children of Christ" in this life. Since man has no power in and of himself to perform such ordinances, he needs the authority and the permission from God, since it is His kingdom and not ours. When someone is baptized by one holding this authority from God, the power of God is manifest and he or she is cleansed by the power of the Holy Ghost as his seal of approval. Through this ordinance, we make a covenant, or contract, with God, that on our part we will do our best to remember the example of Jesus and follow it, and in return God will give us the continual guidance, comfort, and strength of the Holy Ghost. Of course, we are imperfect and therefor tend to forget our part of the deal, God gives us the sacramental service, known by some as the Eucharist (bread and water), that when performed by the same authority, allows us to renew the covenant we made during our Baptism and try again to live as Christ would live. Such a lifestyle of having enough faith to keep the commandments of God as best as we can, and consistently recommiting and renewing these covenants, will refine and perfect us in every aspect of our life. What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Christopher Bruce
Feeling the love of God, even in a world that seems to be so focused on self-gratification, lets me know He's real. It feels like nothing else. You can't fake it, reproduce it, or call it something else. I feel this love when I think of my family and remember who really made it possible for me to be a part of them. I can feel it when I see the small and simple kind actions performed by someone else, knowing that I can and should act likewise. I know that this love is an impression given by the Holy Ghost, who is a direct messenger of God. Following those impressions make for the greatest choices in life. Being able to see the sometimes unseeable outcomes of kind actions is a blessing to me and tells me that God is there and he's looking out for me. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Christopher Bruce
Faith in Christ is increased as we simply do as he says. We trust his words because of previous experiences we've had with divinity. We act as assuredly that he will bless us for keeping his commandments as we would the sun will rise tomorrow (mormon 9:25). Even if you feel like you have very little faith in Christ, there is a pattern that can be followed in Moroni 10:3-5: Remember every happy, joyful moment that you've experienced, and every valuable lesson learned from the not-so-good experience, and believe that it comes from God. Thank Him for them. Then boldly seek for the knowledge that you intend to confidently act on. Direction will come, and faith will grow. Show more Show less
