Hi I'm Kevin

I'm starting a new life because I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a recent college graduate with a degree in Computer Engineering. I enjoy my work and several hobbies of mine include skiing, mountain biking, cycling, and sailing. I've always loved music, and enjoy any opportunity to sing in church or in choirs. I'm marrying my sweetheart in the Temple this coming January.

Why I am a Mormon

A big reason I started to take the missionary discussions was that I saw in my fiancee and her family a happiness that I'd never known before. I could see the positive influence that the Church had on their lives, and I wanted to at least investigate its truth for myself. In my very first church meeting I participated in a question/answer session with a General Authority, Elder Shayne M. Bowen. He spoke on the topic of the Abrahamic Covenant and being a son of Abraham. The Stake men's chorus performed a rendition of Praise to the Man that truly touched my heart. After this meeting, I really wanted to learn more. After the meeting, Elder Bowen shook my hand and told me to continue reading the Book of Mormon, and that I would know it is true. He also told me that if I continued on the path that I was on that I would be married in the Temple, and have an Eternal family. I continued meeting with the missionaries, and when they encouraged me to pray about the Book of Mormon I was afraid that I would have to make a major change in my life. But after searching and striving, I finally reached a conclusion that I sincerely wanted to know if the Church is true, if the Book of Mormon is true, and if Joseph Smith was truly a prophet of God. I got on my knees to pray. No sooner had I asked the question, "Is the Book of Mormon true?" than I felt an incredible sense of peace come over me. I knew the Spirit was testifying to me that the Book of Mormon is true. All of my cares and fears about receiving an answer were no longer present and instead I found that I had gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon and of Joseph Smith. Looking back, I'm surprised my life has changed as much as it has. But also, looking back, I truly wouldn't have it any other way. I love the Lord, and I have learned so much about how He wants me to follow him. Now I am happier than I ever thought I could be, thanks to several helping hands that were willing to take the time to tell me about the Gospel.

How I live my faith

I love to serve in church callings! One of my best experiences at school was in serving as a ward missionary during my last semester of college. Many friends of mine, with whom I had never had many spiritual conversations, suddenly opened up to me when they found out I had joined the church. I was able to share my experiences with them, and to invite several of them to take the missionary discussions. What a great blessing to be able to share my faith with my friends!
