Hi I'm Boyd

I love to spend time with my kids. I'm an optimist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in a small apartment in a big city with my wife and two boys. I travel a lot for my job, which means the best part of my week is coming home to the excited shouts of my boys. On weekends we give mom a break - I take the boys to the park where we ride scooters, play baseball and look for sticks. There usually is time for a date with my wife - we are best friends and enjoy our adventures together. I taught myself guitar by playing for the boys at night while they go to sleep. I play simple American folk songs and recently taught myself the banjo. I like the idea that my boys will grow up with folk music in their hearts that someday will remind them of their time with dad.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to live my faith because it blesses my life and helps me feel more respect for the world around me. Even though at times I have felt great frustration or pain with life’s circumstances, I have found that the more I seek God, the more I see meaning and purpose in life. I see the gospel of Jesus Christ as an antidote for anger, hatred, pride and selfishness - it has helped me overcome past difficulties to feel peace and optimism. I believe if more people could find this connection, the world would be a better place. I love the excitement and satisfaction I feel when I study a topic in the Bible or Book of Mormon and feel that God is guiding me to answers and insights about how better to serve my family and feel more joy. I have experienced miracles and blessings in my life that have convinced me that God is aware of my needs and wants me to be happy.

How I live my faith

One of the most amazing things about the Mormon faith is the service opportunities it gives to members. Nobody receives a salary, and there is something for everyone to do. Serving and connecting with other people through church service has created some of the most joyful moments of my life. Recently I was asked to be the head of my congregation, which has afforded me the opportunity to see the positive influence of the church and its programs on a larger scale. Many miracles occur and much Christian service is rendered without the congregation ever becoming aware. I feel blessed to be a part of a truly impactful and altruistic organization.
