Hi I'm Shannon

I love my family. I hike and speak Spanish. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student and busy with school, work, friends and family. I love to cook with friends, ride bikes, write songs and perform and serve the people around me. I'm passionate about enjoying this beautiful world we live in--and conserving nature for future generations. I was a missionary for 1.5 years and I loved it! I want to keep sharing the joy I feel from my faith in Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I remember one day when I was 14 years old, I decided to read Joseph Smith's history. I wanted to know if he saw God the Father and Jesus Christ, and if he was really called as a prophet. When I read his story and knelt to pray about it, I felt it was true. I felt happier and more at peace. I know that anyone can pray and know it is true. *Joseph Smith was a prophet in the 1800's, and you can read his history on this website.

How I live my faith

I believe in reading the word of God every day and obeying it. I try to follow Jesus Christ in every way I can--by serving others, by living a clean and chaste life, by working hard to make this world a better place. Jesus Christ has done everything for me, and all he asks is that I follow him.  I attend church every Sunday, and serve in my congregation. I really like to visit people and connect with them and help them with their needs. I especially like doing family history work!

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is about Jesus Christ, and it is holy scripture. It is a record of what God told people to write down in the ancient Americas. It is such a powerful book. You can read it and pray about it to come closer to Christ and to know if it is from God. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mormon women believe in being creative, hard-working, and strengthening their families and communities. A wife and husband should love each other and be equal! They have to be, for they are the cement that holds families together. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

I love knowing that God the Father has a body! He is a real being, and he is our father. He loves us so much. His son is Jesus Christ, who also has a body. They live in heaven and anxiously want us to make good choices and succeed. The Holy Ghost is real too. He is a spirit, which means he has no body. Show more Show less

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

Even in ancient times, God commanded specific people to marry more than one wife. He did the same during the early days of the Mormon church, and commanded a few specific people to practice plural marriage for a short time. Show more Show less
