Hi I'm Mike

I love being a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student of Utah State University, but am taking a break from school to serve a mission in florida. (I'll be there starting November!) My father passed away when I was 13, so I have lived with my mom and stepdad. I absolutely love rock climbing, photography, graphic design, and journalism. I have thought about majoring in mechanical engineering, or advertising. I like Dubstep (Some Skrillex), Techno (The Glitch Mob, Daft Punk), and Bob Marley.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon, but I haven't always lived like one. I am where I am today because of the influence of a few good people in my life. My brother came back from his mission when I was in 6th grade. He was a skater punk when he left, but when he came back he was a totally different person. He came to my school that day; just from looking at his face, I could tell that he was a gentler, tamer, better man than he had been before. He talked kinder, and expressed more charity than ever before. I knew that I wanted the same change for my life, yet I didn't act on it. I continued to live a lifestyle that was contrary to God, but I became increasingly aware of the happiness that I was missing. I looked around at my peers, and knew that they had something that I didn't have. The Holy Spirit testified to me that I was missing out on something good, by not living God's way. Then, one day, in seminary, somebody stood up and related their experiences in repentance, and how their lives had been changed. He had committed the same sins that I had, but had taken the necessary steps to repent. I was touched, so I decided to repent that night. It was the best choice that I ever made. I felt the holy spirit so strongly, and I felt clean. God had his hand in my life, even when I didn't deserve it. He gave me a brother who showed me how the gospel changes lives, and a friend who could show me an example of repentance. God expressed his love for me, even when I was rebellious against him.

How I live my faith

I examine my life often, and try to find ways that I can become more like my savior, Jesus Christ.

What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

The welfare services are an effort to help out our neighbors. When somebody is lacking in physical necessities, our welfare services try to remedy that situation. We are all sons and daughters of God who should try to be united and show compassion for one another.  Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes they are. The subtitle of our Book of Mormon is "Another Testament of Jesus Christ." We believe in God, and his son Jesus Christ, and worship them.  Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We do not worship Joseph Smith. We esteem him as a latter-day prophet, but no more than that. We worship God, the eternal father, and Jesus Christ.  Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

This is the delegation of a part of God's authority to mankind, to administer ordinances, and lead the church. It is passed through a direct line of authority, starting from Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

What is the Church’s position on abortion?

Abortive remedies should not be used, except in cases where the mother's health would be seriously threatened, or in cases of rape/incest. In cases of rape, it should be seriously prayed about and counseled about with religious leaders before any decision is made. Show more Show less
