Hi I'm Jon.

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a research scientist, husband, and father of two young kids. I research electronic detection of biomolecules - yes I'm a bit of a nerd! Despite my sister's fears about me getting old without getting married, I now have a wonderful wife - who loves the outdoors even more than I do - and two delightful kids, about 3 and 1 years old. I grew up in Texas and have lived in Boston and the San Francisco area. I enjoy backpacking, ultimate frisbee, cross-country skiing, hiking, and spending time outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are Mormon and they raised me that way, but as a teenager and early adult I had to choose whether I believed that for myself or not. The more I learned about the gospel of Jesus as taught by Joseph Smith and prophets since the more everything fit together and felt right to me.

How I live my faith

Because I know that my family can be eternal, I do my best to love and care for my wife and kids and treat them  with the respect they deserve. I've had various volunteer jobs at church, including teaching a class on Sunday, visiting other members of the congregation, helping people with genealogy, and helping with the high school kids.
