Hi I'm Bill

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Fairfax Virginia where I lived until I joined the Air Force.

About Me

I'm the father of six children and I live in North Carolina, but I work in Northern Virginia. I'm a retired Air Force Officer.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Catholic, but after high school I became less active. My wife, Mary, and I would go to church occasionally, but we were really looking for a place to belong. There was something missing, but I really didn't know what it was, so we kept looking. We went to the Church of the Nazarene for a while because we had close friends who were members, but once we moved to another state, we stopped going. I was living in Nebraska when I was baptized and became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Our conversion didn't happen over night, it took a long time before we were baptized. We were first contacted by the missionaries in February, but we weren't baptized until November. I know the Church was true almost immediately after we started taking the discussions, but I wasn't sure how Mary felt and I knew my family wouldn't be pleased if I joined the Church, so I procrastinated. It wasn't until after a General Conference Priesthood Session, that a good friend and member of the Church challenged me to put my faith in the Lord and lay my fears and concerns at His feet, that I committed to baptism. That was over 30 years ago and it changed my life and made me a better person.

How I live my faith

I ask myself what would the Savior do and go from there.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Some believe that we worship Joseph Smith, but we do not. We believe that he was a Prophet of our Heavenly Father and we revere him as the Lord's chosen representative, as we do Abraham and Moses. Show more Show less
