Hi I'm Paige

Born in New Zealand, grew up in Australia, served in California. Life's good. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Auckland New Zealand but moved to Sydney Australia when I was 9 with my family, so I guess you could say I have a mix of accents. I was born into a home that is always surrounded with noise, from music to tv, to laughing to brothers yelling at the tv when the All Blacks are on and now to two very active nephews. I am child number 5 of 8 children and how blessed I feel to have been raised with so many siblings. I love being in the water. I was a swim teacher for two years and it was by far one of my favourite jobs I have had. I love music, a bit of everything. I love laughing. I'm a listener. Everyone has a story and asking an inspired question to learn that story can be powerful. I love being with my family, I'm a Harry Potter nerd, a Twilight fan (Team Jacob) and I love the Hunger Games. I enjoy reading the book followed by watching the movie to see if they did the book justice. I love the thrill of rollercoasters and I do not care spinning rides. I have now come to appreciate the beauty behind dreaming big. Luke 1:37 "For with God nothing shall be impossible."

Why I am a Mormon

"Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it." - Proverbs 22:6 This is a verse that I feel my parents did a wonderful job of applying into their lives. I feel I have always been a well behaved kid, my parents taught me in a way that always reflected the ways of the Saviour and His teachings and so I have always known who Jesus Christ was as well as His Father and that I am a child of God. As I grew up though I found that there was a point in time where I could no longer live off my parents testimonies, that I had to go and find my own. When I was younger something that made this somewhat difficult to do was having a brother pass away. I remember when my brother had passed, being a child, I didn't know how to react and so one day I just went off on my own and cried. My grandma found me and just embraced me and reminded me of the beautiful truth that I would get to see him again. This moment in time has often been reflected on and given me peace and comfort. Despite during those next few years having had moments where I felt there was no one listening to my prayers, I can now say that Heavenly Father was always there, I just wasn't listening hard enough. Prayer is the way we can communicate with Heavenly Father, His Spirit is how He communicates with us. It is through prayers being answered that I can now state with conviction that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Redeemer. He loved me so much that he came to this earth to die for me and create a pathway for me to return to live with Him and Heavenly Father. But not just me. For all mankind. This is His Gospel and it was Restored through Joseph Smith. These truths are why I am a Mormon and it is these truths that helped me decide to serve a mission. I received my call in May 2010, my visa came a year later in May 2011 but with much joy I can finally say, I am now a Represenative of Jesus Christ serving in the California Oakland San Fransico Mission. How great is my calling!

How I live my faith

My dad has had a saying with us kids as we grew up and that is "whats wrong with being good?" With this loving reminder I have been able to associate myself with people who I feel are good for me to be around. It is by doing this that I have been able to make better choices in my life by already deciding that I will not participate in certain activities. However, I am not perfect, I have made decisions in my life that had me feel sorrow, what is key though is to learn from it, have a change of heart and then press forward with a steadfastness in Christ. I live my faith by living what I believe so that when I interact with people, they will know by my word and actions that I believe in Christ. My calling right now is within the California Oakland San Fransisco Mission as a full time missionary. I have put my life on hold so I can serve 18 months of devotion to the Lord. This is only but a small way that I can show my love and faith in Him. I live my faith by living a Christ centred life and also strengthening my relationships with my family members. Heavenly Father has a plan for us that involves living with our loved ones for time and all eternity, I wish to obtain that and I can do so by strengthening my faith and creating experiences that will reinforce what I believe in so that I can be strengthened and nourished daily. This can be done through daily prayer and scripture study and weekly church attendance.
