Hi I'm Stephanie

I live in China with my husband and four kids! When I'm not kid-loving, I love to run and eat!

About Me

I met my husband while teaching English in China. When we got married, I knew China was in the cards, and I decided to take Chinese during college. We went back a few times during college for semester internships, but just recently have moved here to stay for several years through my husband's work. I love the Chinese people. We have 4 beautiful children, and I spend my days homeschooling them and playing with them. To keep my sanity, I love to bike and run, and I also love to read. When it's warm out, you can usually find our family out on our bike exploring beautiful China!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because the teachings of the Mormon Church bring a satisfaction and peace that can't be found anywhere else. I know who I am. I know where I'm going. I feel love and peace even through hard times. I know the Lord lives and that He loves me. Life makes sense because of what I know from the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know where to find true happiness, and I am filled with joy.

How I live my faith

Though far from the person I wish I was, I live my faith by trusting in God's grace each and every day. When I fall short (which is daily!), I turn to my Savior and petition Him for help to do the good works I want to do, but can't do on my own. I try and also give others the same mercy and patience He gives to me. My faith carries me through the hard times, and it brings extra joy to the good times. I love my Redeemer!

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Stephanie
Just like a large corporation has many different positions to help the corporation succeed, a family needs to have different roles in order to succeed. A corporation would fall apart if everyone was the CEO or if everyone was the VP of Marketing. The same goes for a family. Mormons believe that the father has been given the role as the provider and the protector of the family. And mothers are given the role of nurturing and teaching the children. But, the key is that they work together and they help each other. Going back to the corporation metaphor- if a CEO never talked with or helped the CFO, they would have major problems in their company. Mothers and fathers work TOGETHER to make a successful family - they both work on the budget, work on the home, teach and love the children, and help take care of one another. It's really a beautiful way of doing things that brings harmony and peace. Children should be raised in a home that has stability and where love abounds. With parents who know their individual roles and who are happy in them and happy in helping each other, that stability can be had, and love can reign. Show more Show less
