Hi I'm Jimmy

I grew up in Alabama and have moved around for the last 20 years. I recently moved back from Connecticut to Alabama.

About Me

I am a convert to the church. I joined the church in 1996 after meering my wife. I have 5 children and we live in Alabama. I work for a construction company and love what I do. I enjoy playing golf and love college football.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because during the missionary discussions, the Holy Ghost strongly tetified to me that I needed to join the church and be baptized just like Jesus Christ was baptized. The spirit in the room that night testifeid to me that I had to join the church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to follow the covenants or promises I made with Heavenly Father at the time I was baptized. I serve as on a council of 12 men lead by 3 others that helps to oversee several units in a certain geographical boundary in Alabama. These geographical boundaries are called stakes. I travel to these units on every Sunday except for the first Sunday of each month. I teach the gospel when ever I get the chance. I get to speak on most Sundays in some part of our stake.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Jimmy
Yes. We believe the Bible is the word of God as far as it is was translated corretly. In fact, we teach from the Bible in Sunday School and in seminary, a program that youth attend at the age of 14 to learn more about the Gospel. Show more Show less

What is the difference between attending church and the temple?

Jimmy
Attending church is different from attending the temple in that at church, we partake of the sacrament each week and renew the promises and covenants we made with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ when we were baptized. We are given the ability to repent of our sins each week, through the taking of the sacrament. In the temple, we make sacred, not secret, covenants with Heavenly Father, for time and all eternity. It is in the temple, that families are sealed together which allows us to live with each other for eternity, as long as we are faithful in following the commandments. We are taught sacred princliples that allow us to return to Heavenly Father's presence as long as we are obedient. Show more Show less
